Hello, all ❄

I'm hoping you all had a warm, welcoming, merry Christmas, happy holidays, all that good stuff. I'm not Christian myself, but I have always enjoyed the Christmas holiday season with lights glistening from trees and hot chocolate and cider warming the cold hands of friends and family. There's something nostalgic and comforting about the chilly holiday. I tend to lean more towards Yule and Solstice celebrations, but of course, most of the traditions of Christmas are of pagan roots: the ornaments and trees, the food, the booze... To me, it's a celebration of the season and an acknowledgment of our loved ones and community. Gift giving and receiving is a plus, and it doesn't have to be a fancy gift; I've enjoyed our friends sending us little family holiday cards or just cool little trinkets they may find.

One of my favorite gifts this year is actually a book that my partner's sibling got for me titled, Dark Archives: A Librarian's Investigation Into the Science & History of Books Bound in Human Skin. As you can imagine, it is a weird book! I'm obsessed and have found it hard to put down, aside from how tiring it can be to read educational books at times; I sometimes put too much pressure on myself to fully absorb the literature I'm reading and it can make the fun task a more daunting one. However, I've enjoying getting back into books and literature. I've missed it, but college really drained me of it for awhile, I think. I want to be more like my mother, who manages to read at minimum 100 books a year lately. I'd also like to be more like her in health and in spirit; she's around fifty-five, but runs marathons and eats super clean and vegan. She is such a great role model.

Well, enough about my holidays. What about yours!? Any stories worth telling? Gifts worth writing about?

Here's a sneak peak at this fun last minute workshop I got to take part in a week before Christmas. I was so happy and grateful to be hired for a few last minute projects before the new year! Hoping to keep that good luck riding into 2023. How will you be celebrating, if at all?
