Photo-a-Day | Smoky Mountains (Patreon)

I decided to branch out a little bit during our small family vacation last month to the Smoky Mountains. We stayed in a cabin for 4 days near Clayton in the local state park. It was such a beautiful stay and gave me a taste of the incoming fall and winter seasons before my town could. Even just a little over an hour away, the mountains made everything much more crisp and cold; we spent the mornings with hot coffee on the porch. It was my mother, sister, step dad, partner, and my parent's husky, Klondike. I'm so glad they brought her along! Her first vacation!
One of the days, we explored a small hiking trail near a lake by the cabin. It looped around, so I took my camera for the walk. I took a lot of flower shots and even got one of a spider. I need a better lens for that, though - a good macro lens.
At the end of the walk, we met back at the dock and I snapped these shots of the little ducks hanging out. The two together were sleeping for a bit, it was soooo cute. I kind of want to make prints of these, honestly. Not bad for something simple and less artsy/conceptual, yeah?
