Haven's Port: Reputation & Sexuality Systems (Patreon)
Content
Alright, everyone! I'm finally happy with what I have worked out. I've had the Reputation system worked out since last month, but I was tweaking the Sexuality System right up until yesterday. I think I overhauled it completely something like 4 times in ongoing efforts to make it do what I wanted while still remaining simple and straightforward. Without farther ado, I present to you an overview of:
The Reputation System:
This part of Haven's Port's mechanics is simple but important. As I've mentioned before, a BIG part of the game revolves around the fact that you can actually be 'upwardly mobile' as it were, regarding your place in Haven's Port's society. While you start out as an utterly unknown soul, rescued from a slave galley, you'll be able to rise to prominence through your actions in Haven's Port. The primary stat of this system will be Fame/Infamy (more on the difference in a bit). Actions you take while playing the game will raise your Fame/Infamy and, when you reach a certain level, you'll have a chance to level up to the next tier of reputation. This will unlock things like New Outfits, New Places to Live, New Jobs, and Investment Opportunities. It will also, eventually, unlock unique events throughout the game...and access to the other islands in Haven's Port's island chain!
Of course, to be blunt, very little regarding the reputation system will be in Build 1. Since Build 1 focuses on getting some core level 0 reputation jobs in place, it won't have much relevance until at least build 2 :-). As for the Fame/Infamy thing...that's related to the next topic!
The Sexuality System:
This mechanic was originally made up of several parts, but I've thought and rethought it in an effort to make it less bulky. Essentially, this system focuses on the TYPE of character you want your MC to be. There are two stats for the system: Slut Points and Seductress Points. Though I'm still debating if Slut carries too much of a negative connotation...I may call them something else.
Either way, what these two sets of points represent, is how far your MC has gone in one direction or another. Have you chosen actions/jobs that are blatant-in-your-face slutty? Such options will give Slut Points. If, instead, you choose actions/jobs that fit more with the sensual seductress, the femme fatale, you'll earn Seductress Points. Examples of each that will be in the first build are, for Slut Points, working at the Glory Hole. Or, for Seductress points, working at the Order of the Rose Temple (where you can do things like being a dancer). Essentially, this system represents the Adult Content equivalent of something like a Paragon/Renegade system. NEITHER direction will be depicted as 'good' or 'evil.' Just different! Remember my games are always aimed to be sex-positive overall! Moreover, you'll actually be able to gain points in both if you want...though that may affect access to some things they unlock. (Don't worry, I fully intend for there to be systems in place in-game to allow you to shift between the two with enough effort, so everyone can see all the content if they want)
Speaking of which! Just what are Slut and Seductress points for?! Why, lots of things! For one thing, your advancement in them constitutes your MC's developing sexual skills. The near-totally-inexperienced young woman you start out as isn't likely willing or able to jump headfirst into letting everyone screw her through the wall at the glory hole! In that specific example, the MC can do the most basic of jobs at the Glory Hole right off the bat (providing hand jobs) and through working there (and training!) she can gain Slut Points, representing greater knowledge of that sort/flavor of sexual service. With a certain number of points, she'll unlock providing blowjobs...or more! Essentially, gaining points in one or the other will unlock more options for individual jobs. In the future, there will also be events around town that only happen if you have X number of points...or dominantly only one type of points!
However, that's not the only thing that Slut and Seductress points do. For one, they can affect how much pay you'll get at 'neutral' jobs. For another...remember that Fame/Infamy thing? Whether you're Infamous or Famous will depend on which you have more points in. Likewise, there is another, somewhat minor, system that they will relate to in time...
Titles:
Like the option to wear different types of clothing in-game, you'll also be able to acquire different types of titles. Which, in addition to being fun flavor, will also provide bonuses depending on which title you select (much like outfit choices). While many titles will have other unlock requirements, ALL of them will be locked by a combination of the Reputation and Sexuality Systems. In order to, say, unlock the title of Cum Queen, you'd need to have a certain minimum amount of Infamy...and a corresponding amount of Slut Points. Likewise, to unlock a title like Exotic Dancer, you would need to have a certain amount of Fame and Seductress Points (as well as another requirement!). Titles, after all, represent something that OTHER people in-game would call you, which means that you need to be recognized as relating to that thing... If you never choose to become a Haven's Port Pirate (which is a job I will be introducing in future builds that will unlock once you've earned some Fame/Infamy) than it wouldn't make sense for you to be able to call yourself a pirate...or even a Pirate Lord...

Alright, those are the core bits to understand about these game mechanics! I hope people like the idea of them! On unrelated-notes, the second and third renders attached are from new scenes you'll get able to start at the Jolly Rodger pub. Those scenes have 4 renders each, all of which are already finished. I'll be moving on to the Order of the Rose renders, which is another job location, right after I post this. (As in, I've got the render prepped but it's hard to do anything else while renders are cranking away, so I won't start it until I'm done with this post :-p).
