A More Formal Announcement for TCW (Patreon)

Words can't describe how hard it's been for me to keep a proper announcement bottled up the way I have, but maybe how poor a job I've done at said bottling will give you an idea. I wanted to tell you all about the next game we've been working on the second I had any art assets to show last winter. But when it came right down to it, well, it just felt wrong to start really promoting a follow-up before the current project was technically complete. I couldn't help myself of course, and still showed some early character line ups initially. I also failed to keep my trap shut on the Game Dev tier about some of the names and story details so some of this may be me repeating myself. But! Thankfully now I can stop attempting to be coy, because I am bad at it.
On behalf of Switchverse Games I'm thrilled to announce the title of our next project: This Clandestine World!
As you might infer, it's more of a spinoff than a sequel to the visual novel and the comic. So what makes this different from its predecessor? The short answer is that TCW will have more of a focus on sci-fi lore than the slice-of-life style of TRW. This new story centers around a sex-addicted private detective named Roman Graves and his partner, Friday Calero, as the two of them get mixed up in supernatural adventures in their line of work. It will largely be its own thing set in the universe of TRW, but you'd be crazy not to expect a few familiar faces to show up along the way.
And if you happen to be wondering, "why is this its own thing?" It's because not tying it directly to TRW will free me up in a way that I was constrained when writing the visual novel. A canonical prequel with established characters could be very restrictive as to what could or couldn't happen in the story. With new characters, anything goes!
One big change this time around is just how we plan to go about releasing it. Rather than making a single game with updates that become more complete with each release build every 4-6 months, I'm thinking we'll release more frequent chapters based on the assets we have, and every build will be actually be a short but unique episode (at least dialog-wise) as we grow our visual assets into something capable of telling a larger story.
So what does that mean around here? Well, names in the credits are back for the $15 tier. Anyone who pledges between this month and the first release (ETA this summer) will have their names in the first episode permanently.
That's all I've got for now! I hope to have piqued you're interest in our upcoming smutty point and click adventure!
