Words can't describe how hard it's been for me to keep a proper announcement bottled up the way I have, but maybe how poor a job I've done at said bottling will give you an idea. I wanted to tell you all about the next game we've been working on the second I had any art assets to show last winter. But when it came right down to it, well, it just felt wrong to start really promoting a follow-up before the current project was technically complete. I couldn't help myself of course, and still showed some early character line ups initially. I also failed to keep my trap shut on the Game Dev tier about some of the names and story details so some of this may be me repeating myself. But! Thankfully now I can stop attempting to be coy, because I am bad at it.

On behalf of Switchverse Games I'm thrilled to announce the title of our next project: This Clandestine World!

As you might infer, it's more of a spinoff than a sequel to the visual novel and the comic. So what makes this different from its predecessor? The short answer is that TCW will have more of a focus on sci-fi lore than the slice-of-life style of TRW. This new story centers around a sex-addicted private detective named Roman Graves and his partner, Friday Calero, as the two of them get mixed up in supernatural adventures in their line of work. It will largely be its own thing set in the universe of TRW, but you'd be crazy not to expect a few familiar faces to show up along the way.

And if you happen to be wondering, "why is this its own thing?" It's because not tying it directly to TRW will free me up in a way that I was constrained when writing the visual novel. A canonical prequel with established characters could be very restrictive as to what could or couldn't happen in the story. With new characters, anything goes!

One big change this time around is just how we plan to go about releasing it. Rather than making a single game with updates that become more complete with each release build every 4-6 months, I'm thinking we'll release more frequent chapters based on the assets we have, and every build will be actually be a short but unique episode (at least dialog-wise) as we grow our visual assets into something capable of telling a larger story.

So what does that mean around here? Well, names in the credits are back for the $15 tier. Anyone who pledges between this month and the first release (ETA this summer) will have their names in the first episode permanently.

That's all I've got for now! I hope to have piqued you're interest in our upcoming smutty point and click adventure!

I'm a big fan of setting a game/story/whatever in the same world but as it's own entity. I think that's a pretty great direction to take the next game and it definitely adds a lot of intrigue to what's already an intriguing idea.

sounds neat. Looking forward to it.

Oh. This looks Interesting. As much as I love TRW and it's characters it's cool to see you trying something new. Looking forward to the first drop.

So a tell tell game reincach style? I like it although I have to ask what a sex addiction constitutes in this universe?

Roman seems to be a man who knows the value of a tactical turtle neck. And I think it's just because her hair reminds me very slightly of Parker, but "Friday Calero" makes me think of one of Parker's aliases for meeting with Isaac and the mechanics. As for familiar face guesses...maybe Mr. Fontaine's a client, having them dig up dirt on his ex-wife? Royce doing research for a supernatural detective novel? ;) Of course, Crawlers and...at least one other species of alien wouldn't surprise me. As for setting...I see cityscape in the background. Seattle maybe, to keep the Washington vibe, and allow for familiar faces? Also that rainy pacific northwest weather, suited to grimy, sexy detective work.

So, if we don't get Roman gawking at a giant hologram naked woman I will riot. All I'm gonna say, for now...

Possibly? I'm not sure I know enough about Seattle to present it authentically. Might have to make up a new city lol.

Also if I answered a question you didn't ask here I apologize, ti seems my thumbs are too fat for the Patreon app and I responded to the wrong comment line. XD
