Thanks for waiting guys! :D
If you don't recognize this character, it's Caitlin Fairchild, poster girl of a beloved yet short-lived comic from like 25 years ago called Gen 13.
And yet despite Gen 13's flash-in-the-pan status in pop culture history, I doubt a lot of you needed me to tell you who this character was. That comic was huge for awhile there, and artist J. Scott Campbell's amazingly sexy characters were a major part of that success if you ask me. His run on the comic was heart-breakingly short however, and the minute an issue dropped without him as penciler, the series was pretty much done. There must be a story there, as I always wondered why he left such a popular IP at its peak, if you know what went down behind the scenes I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
Anyhow Fairchild was my favorite. I always tended to gravitate toward team leaders, (especially tall busty red headed ones) and I liked the idea that this 90-pound bookworm could throw a car.
I do know that DC Comics bought up Image awhile back. And, as far as I've seen anyway, Fairchild here is the only member of the old Gen 13 squad they've actually taken off the bench and put in a story. I understand she's a supporting character in Superboy comics now. It's cool that she's still around, but from the pics I've seen it seems pretty clear that she's a different character these days. From what I can tell they re-imagined it so her super strength actually makes her Hulk out and grow physically in size. That's fine I suppose, but not in line with the version of the character I have nostalgia for.
What do you think? Do I have any idea what I'm talking about here? If you have any Gen 13 info it's probably news to me. Let me know in the comments! :)
