I'm pleased to announce that I was able to get the eye drops I needed and am now feeling a thousand times better. I hate for TRW to run late a day, especially because my travel visa is up this month and I'm getting booted back to America on the 29th. I was hoping to save THAT week for a possible late post. But I'll just try to get ahead of schedule before I make the trip.

That's all the important stuff but I'll share some details about my ordeal if you're interested. I had to spend the day in a British Emergency room. I have no health insurance in this country. (My traveler's insurance had just expired at the end of June, LOLZ.) I ended up having to to see a nurse practitioner and two specialists during my visit and when all was said and done, the whole thing didn't cost a dime. I paid ten pounds for eye drops at the pharmacy and that was it. As an American that just blows my mind. I feel like the natural order of the world as I understand won't be restored until somebody sends me a bill for at least ten thousand dollars, damn it!

Anyhow what I had is called Iritis and it basically means your iris has decided that it's sick of your shit for a couple of agonizing weeks if not properly treated. Not caused by eyestrain, much to my surprise. I had naturally assumed that my penchant for staring at screens during my every waking moment was a factor but nope, I'm just an unlucky son of a bitch and this can happen to anyone. But now I've got drops that clear it right up, so with any luck this will be the last time I miss work over this particular curse.

That's all for now! Thanks for waiting and I'll see you tomorrow with the next page of the comic!

Glad to hear you're feeling better and making use of the NHS while we still have it.

NKL

That being chronic sucks, good thing you can keep it in check at the very least.

Angelo

Glad you’re doing better, man. Also happy to hear that it sounds like you got a proper diagnosis this time. If I remember correctly, when this happened last year the doctors just attributed it to eye strain, right?

Emmett

Really happy to hear you're doing better, and thank goodness they actually saw you with the state of the NHS after five tory governments.

Lord Washington

Glad you’re better. Sorry you’re going back to the states. Have you got a place to stay here waiting for ya?

Daniel S

Oh yeah iritis is fuuuun. In the same way dental surgery on a roller coaster is

KainRezo072

Typical American experience of "what do you mean I don't have to spend the rest my life paying for this, even with insurance coverage?" XD

Squid Hills

Glad you're on the mend!

Reinbach

Thanks! And yeah I have to admit it does feel too good to be true to have gotten free healthcare.

Reinbach

For sure! I'll just have to set up with an eye doctor once I get back to the states.

Reinbach

Last time they gave me some eye gel that I thought helped. But now that I think about it it took forever to "work" and I think I was misdiagnosed and just rode it out over the course of a few miserable weeks. It makes sense. I didn't see an actual optometrist then, I just went to urgent care.

Reinbach

Yeah like most things I hear it's not as good as it used to be. But it sure bailed me out when I needed it!

Reinbach

I do, thanks. Going to stay in Orlando with friends for a few while I plan my next move.

NomadicWanderer

So happy to hear you're mostly back to being pain free! Cheers!
