Yeah, so basically Peeta never betrayed her. He was serious and honest with her the whole time about how he feels about her and he genuinely desires to protect her. He was just with those other people to throw them off the trail and keep her safe. As for the Capital, the reason they let them both live is because letting two people like that die defeats the purpose of giving the people "just enough hope" that Snow (the old man) was talking about. They want to prevent any uprisings, Katniss dying that way would make her a martyr as well which is again, counterproductive to what they want. Katniss rebelled here by forcing the Capital's hand into sparing them both, she put them in a chokehold there, but now they have to play it off like they did it because they were in love and would rather die than be without each other. Lastly, yes there are 3 books in this series (Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay) and 4 movies, the last 2 being a two parter of the last book. Also, there is in fact a prequel out in theatres now called The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes that essentially explains the origin of the series itself. Hope to see you react to the rest, Catching Fire is my favorite movie of the series!
