Allen proved to be one of the most captivating and whimsical elements from the first season. Peter Cullen's iconic voice, instantly recognizable as Thaedus, added to the allure. The expansion of Allen's story fulfilled a promise, and the brevity of his presence intensified the impact of that scene.  Despite occurring later in the show, introducing a Coalition of Planets to counter Omni-Man's plans added depth to the overarching narrative set up in the season 1 finale.

Rudy and Monster Girl's story, initially a curveball in season one, took a surprising turn. Robot's creepy actions to acquire a body were justified by love, and Monster Girl embraced it, making their date a satisfying catharsis. This narrative echoed Mark's commitment to defending humanity against his father.

Debbie's internal struggle continued to be the season's dramatic highlight. Sandra Oh's and Daveed Diggs' emotionally charged exchanges were profoundly affecting. While Theo's reaction was understandable, witnessing Debbie's tumultuous journey made it easy to harbor resentment towards him. Mark's seemingly unshakeable resolve to differ from his father faces the ultimate test, adding anticipation to the unfolding narrative.
