Five Nights at Freddy's, missed the mark for us. Josh Hutcherson takes the lead in this film as a troubled security guard. He embarks on a night-time job at a deserted family entertainment center, only to uncover a chilling secret — its four animatronic mascots spring to life and have a penchant for murder. The film also features notable supporting performances by Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Matthew Lillard.

The animatronics are a highlight, combining practical effects and CGI to create lifelike and terrifying characters. The filmmakers have done justice to the iconic Freddy Fazbear and his companions, making them as unsettling on screen as they are in the games.

We're unsure if a better grasp of the game might have improved our experience with this film. While it had its moments, establishing a connection proved to be a challenge. The actors performed admirably given their roles, yet an overarching connection remained elusive. Despite some commendable highlights, the film failed to fully engage us.

Honestly, Nicholas Cage's movie "Willy's Wonderland" did better and it wasn't even based on the game and the people behind it swear there was no inspiration. However, it definitely screams FNAF. I've played FNAF and while I wasn't a big fan, I was excited for the movie. It missed the mark for me as well. But, I am glad to see Mathew Lillard (even if the "twist" was obvious with his casting). He did amazing as usual!

2023-11-13 06:18:06 I never cared for Five Nights at Freddy's but I thought the movie was okay. I can tell it was made with passion and desire behind it, but I just wasn't part of the target audience and I think you guys weren't either. Not every movie is going to resonate with everyone at the end of the day. I love Oak disliking the Last Airbender lie action movie so much that he actually forgot it was the worst movie he'd seen on the channel. 😂
