Underworld: Blood Wars is the fifth installment in the long-running vampire-werewolf saga. The film follows Selene (Kate Beckinsale), the iconic Death Dealer vampire, as she navigates a new chapter in the eternal battle. The story centers on her quest to protect her daughter from Marius (Tobias Menzies), the formidable leader of the Lycans, who seeks to harness her unique bloodline.

The plot feels somewhat convoluted, character development takes a side track a bit, making it challenging to invest emotionally in the outcomes. The film introduces new characters, but they do kind of feel underutilized a bit, missing the chance to breathe fresh life into the franchise. Either way, these are just nitpicks at this point. We know by now what these films are and surprisingly it really didn't disappoint as much as people mentioned. In our opinion.

The film boasts impressive action sequences, and Beckinsale's return as the stoic Selene is a highlight. Her relentless pursuit of vengeance and survival remains captivating. Theo James reprises his role as David, adding depth to his character. Visually, Blood Wars maintains the series' signature Gothic aesthetic, with dark, moody cinematography that creates a foreboding atmosphere. The battles between vampires and Lycans are thrilling. Oddly enough, we wouldn't mind another. Speaking of, did we see a correct headline saying they're trying to reboot the franchise?

So I believe that the record for the fastest twilight mention was like 13 minutes in during the 3rd movie? Oak blew this out of water with a vampire baseball wish 40 seconds in. Nice one.

So I know for sure the ending with Selene sitting on the ice, that was Eve approaching her. The part that I have a theory about is when they were passing out cups of blood to the coven, I think it was hers so that they can all become day walkers which will give them an increased chance to keep their coven going. I definitely think they should either do 1 more movie or a limited series and I think the best story arc would be the 1st episode Kate makes a brief appearance and is telling Eve that she is now in charge of whatever new battle they are facing and the series can follow a Eve and her putting an end to the war once and for all. We know that Eve can age, and the actress that plays her, India Eisley is currently 30, and so she could either play her age or 100% younger and I just think that a movie or limited series following her to end the war for good would be fantastic and give us fans the closure we desperately crave! So glad you guys watched this and seemed to enjoy it. I'll echo what you have already said, it's not an Oscar caliber movie, it's not a cash cow like Marvel but it is hella fun, I've always loved the movies and they have always met my expectations. Also, I saw that Pitch Perfect won the poll for after the Mission Impossible movies (which I don't care for), but I'm so excited and can't wait to watch you guys go on that journey! The Pitch Perfect franchise is one of my all time favorites. I'll just say that going into it, you are going to get a lot of Cheesiness... Lean into it and ENJOY!!

Oh and to answer your question I think the 2nd film will always be my favorite. If I had to rank them all: 1. Evolution 2. Underworld 3.Rise of the Lycans (I have such a thing for Michael Sheen) 4. Awakening 5. Blood Wars And here is the link to the article about the Reboot https://movieweb.com/underworld-reboot-being-planned-len-wiseman-reveals/#:~:text=Director%20Len%20Wiseman%20has%20confirmed,%2C%20Underworld%2C%20is%20in%20development
