Underworld ..... what a dark and enthralling world of supernatural warfare. Set in a gritty modern-day environment where vampires and werewolves, or lycans, are locked in a centuries-old feud, the film unfolds as an intense battle for supremacy.

Kate Beckinsale delivers a great performance as Selene, a fierce vampire warrior entangled in the conflict. Beckinsale's portrayal brings a perfect blend of vulnerability and strength to her character. The film's moody and gothic aesthetic adds to the atmosphere, creating an eerie backdrop that complements the intense action sequences.

Director Len Wiseman's vision presents a unique twist on the age-old vampire and werewolf mythology. The intricate plot weaves political intrigue, personal vendettas, and hidden agendas. The film's lore is developed well, providing a rich background for the ongoing battle between the two supernatural factions. The visual effects and action choreography were done well, with dynamic and brutal fights between vampires, werewolves, and even hybrids. Don't get us wrong, some spots of the acting and CGI were questionable, but still an entertaining film.

While the film's focus on action sometimes overshadows character depth and development, "Underworld" remains a compelling and adrenaline-fueled ride. Looking forward to the next one.

Yaaaaay I couldn't wait for this to drop. This movie is one of the top vampire films for me

I was wondering why you guys were talking about the Prison Break actor while I had the Lycan scientist on screen when I realized I had the extended version while you guys were watching the regular one haha. I’ve seen this movie several times but it was my first time watching the extended version and we got several more scenes, especially one scene with Selene and Michael talking about what happened to their family, that was really interesting (and might explain why she was crying after chaining Michael to the chair), one additional scene with Kraven with the blond vampire before Selene comes back in the coven, more backstory about the Hungarian ancestor and Michael, a kiss scene between Selene and Michael while Lucian was watching ...

I'm with Oak on this one. Alot of the acting was bad. Story was good but predictable to me. I'm just glad there weren't any sparkly vampires or Abercrombie model werewolves in booty shorts. It was decent though. I'm sure they get better with budget increases. Also, would you guys consider watching the MTV Teen Wolf show? Blatant twilight rip off lol.

As I was watching, I kept thinking, "Wow, the guy playing Craven is so bad. Was he always this bad??" And then Oak voiced it at the end 😆 I was surprised to learn from you guys that it was low-budget. I thought it looked pretty good for the time 😅 but maybe nostalgia is making me too nice. Thanks for watching this former-goth-kid's classic 👍

Speaking of vampires. Did any of you guys see the Blade movies? Those are legendary. Well... the first 2 atleast.

Kathryn Murders

Fun fact, Kate was almost NOT cast because prior to this movie she was not in any action films (she was primarily drama) and they were worried she couldn't sell the action. This films low budget led to many funny behind the scenes things, like when Viktor threw Michael through the wall it was Styrofoam blocks that if you pay attention are actually floating in the water instead of sinking. Many battle scenes are actually held in the same hallway, just redecorated. Despite it's flaws, I've always enjoyed this movie.

Oh, and Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman has the werewolf look that Oak is looking for. A lot of designs come off Ork-ish because they are making a human form with a beastly face, which is almost an exact definition of an Ork. You could also look into The Wolfman from 2010. Daybreakers with Ethan Hawke is a good unique vampire story. I recommend.

You guys got me on Patreon with Underworld. 😂 I love these movies. Fantasy monsters fascinate me so the lore on this one kept me watching. The origin story was interesting and done well. I really like that an older vampire can see everything in a person's life just from drinking their blood too. I do agree somewhat that the execution could've been better but the story was engaging so its a pass. 😍 I'm big on dark fantasies, especially vampires. So are some of the major players still working in Hollywood today. Almost all of them have some time in their life made a vampire movie or been in a show. 😍😂 Some of the best vamp movies I've seen: 1994 - Interview With A Vampire - Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, Stephen Rea, & Thandie Newton. 1992 - Bram Stoker's Dracula - Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Anthony Hopkins 2002- Blade 1 and 2 - Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Stephen Dorff, Ron Perlman, Norman Reedus, Donnie Yen 2007 - 30 Days of Night - Josh Hartnet, Danny Houston, Mark Boone Scariest movie vamps for me. 2014 - Dracula Untold - Luke Evans, Charles Dance 2000 - Dracula 2000 - Gerald Butler, Jonny Miller, Omar Epps, Christopher Plummer 1996 - From Dusk Til Dawn - George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Quentin Tarantino, Selma Hayek, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Juliet Lewis 2004 - Van Helsing - Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale, David Wenham Johnny Depp was in Dark Shadows and Nicolas Cage has been in 2 vampire movies! 😆 My point is, you guys should watch more monster movies! Vampires, Zombies, Demons, Werewolves, etc. 😁😍

side note: the reason you guys think the romance and relations progressed so quickly is because the version you rented had 20 to 25 min cut in total from it, most scenes related were conversations and arcs related to relationships between different characters (i.e. Selene and Michael, Erica and Craven and so on).

Even with all it's flaws, I really enjoy this film. You don't have a lot of Vampire/Werewolf action movies, and I like this one's vibe.

As I originally saw this movie when I was 13 years old and it had Kate Beckinsale in leather leather kicking ass, the movie has a spot in my memory
