In "Air," set in the year 1984, we are transported to a time when Nike's basketball division is struggling to make a mark within the running shoe company and in the competitive sports market. This film brilliantly captures the essence of an underdog story, fueled by determination, dreams, and a relentless spirit.

At the center of the narrative is Vaccaro, portrayed with conviction by (Matt Damon), who passionately believes that basketball superstar Jordan can transform Nike's fortunes. Throughout the film, Vaccaro persuades key individuals, including marketing director Rob Strasser (Jason Bateman) and former player-turned-executive Howard White (Chris Tucker), about Jordan's potential. Notably, Chris Messina delivers a standout performance as Jordan's charismatic agent, David Falk, infusing the movie with a captivating energy during a profanity-laden telephone outburst. Viola Davis, portraying Jordan's proud and protective mother Deloris, brings depth and wisdom to the story. Ben Affleck and Marlon Wayans deliver great performances as well. Honestly, all the actors did amazing and shout out to the crew too!

Occasionally, "Air" relies heavily on nostalgia, utilizing an abundance of needle drops and pop culture references to evoke the era. The extensive opening montage featuring Cabbage Patch Kids, Hulk Hogan, 80's music and more sets the nostalgic tone. Transition scenes featuring a Rubik's Cube or Trivial Pursuit cards contribute to the '80s atmosphere. The film maintains a smooth and reliable flow reminiscent of one of Jordan's iconic buzzer-beating, fadeaway jumpers.

I can’t believe I still haven’t watched this movie. My bedroom as a kid was nothing but Michael Jordan posters and SI covers, the first basketball sneakers I ever bought with my own money were the Jordan 5’s, I wore 23, and these days I think I have… 5 or 6 different AJ1 colorways? Needless to say, MJ was my idol and his agent went to my Alma mater. Long story short, what the hell am I waiting for? Haha

Jeff K

Even my golf shoes are AJ1 golf shoes… needless to say my wife thinks I might have a problem! Hahaha. Time to watch “Air”!

What did I tell ya about the motivational speech scene. One of the most inspirational scenes of any movie ever. The footage...

I was curious about this movie and I'm so glad I got to watch it for the first time with you guys. I learned a lot about MJ here that I didn't know. That footage that they interweaved in was so moving. The tone and style of this movie actually reminds me of a couple other movies I hope you guys get a chance to check out if it's not on your list already-— 'The Big Short' and 'Silver Linings Playbook' (this one has another surprise Chris Tucker appearance). Had a blast watching along!

Peaches

That speech and montage of Jordan just beautifully done. Chief kiss 🫶🏽🫶🏽🥺

Tbh, I never would have watched this movie if it wasn't for you guys. I think it's well made and I always enjoy biopics, but I just hate the fact that something so banal can really have an effect on history. I agree with Oak that if things had played out differently, the world would be changed, but I just don't think that should be the case. I don't think people should be spending so much money on such trivial things. I don't think it should be such a huge part of people's lives. Ultimately I think it's sad that for most people, what brand of clothing they wear has more of an effect on who they are than following the virtues of the Bible.

You should really react to fear the walking dead season 8 its way better then the other seasons also a lot of callbacks to the walking dead

Do Not Talk About Fight Club

Random Boston fact. But when they mention that Patrick Ewing attended Cambridge Ringe and Latin Highschool. That’s the same High School Matt and Ben attended.

I agree with Diamond. I own Jordans I think hes the best but its a 4 out of 5 for me. It didnt make me feel like top gun marverick. Some movies gotta be better than others. But i loved this movie!

As much as I love the cartoons and romantic comedy it is a treat to watch Badd Medicine react to dramas. Air is absolutely riveting!

It was a great movie to watch with you guys but I don’t think I would have liked it as much otherwise. Without the nostalgia factor, it’s a 3-3.5 out of 5 for me, but I still really enjoyed it Fun fact: Michael’s parents in the movie, Viola Davis and Julius Tennon are married in real life !

Just now getting to circle back to this: Sonny wasn't wrong about Adi Dassler being in the Hitler youth. He and his brother were both conscripted, essentially, to be Nazis. The story of those two is so fascinating. The worked together making shoes for the family business, then had a giant falling out, and Adi founded Adidas and Rudolf founded Puma. They *hated* each other by the end.

Its such a great movie. Not a lot of people unfortunately know about that movie because it didn't do well at the box office. But you guys would love. Please Please react to the Last Duel.
