Here we go..... its Scream time. Directed by Wes Craven, The story follows Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), a high school student whose town becomes the target of a masked killer known as Ghostface. As the body count rises, Sidney and her friends find themselves trapped in a web of deceit, trying to unmask the killer before it's too late.

One of Scream's greatest strengths lies in its self-referential nature. It skillfully satirizes the genre's tropes, often breaking the fourth wall to acknowledge and subvert horror movie conventions. The stellar ensemble cast, including Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Drew Barrymore, delivers strong performances that balance genuine fear with moments of witty banter. The chemistry among the actors adds depth to their characters, making them relatable and engaging.

Scream successfully navigates the fine line between horror and comedy, seamlessly transitioning from heart-pounding scares to moments of dark humor. It cleverly blends these elements to create an engaging and unpredictable viewing experience.

While the film does rely on some familiar horror tropes, it effectively subverts them, offering unexpected plot twists and genuinely shocking moments. The killer's identity remains a tantalizing mystery until the final act. Very entertaining start for this franchise. Looking forward to the next one.

Alyssa Dyson

Cant wait for Scream 4. This one and 4 are the best ones imo.

Looking forward to watching one of my favorite movies ever with you guys. I have honestly seen this likely over 200 times 😂 Kind of insane, but I’m a big horror guy and for some reason this one (and this series) just clicks with me. I’m curious, will it be a first watch for more of you as the series goes along, or have most of you seen a few of them?

Oak hasn't seen anything after the 2nd. Mason Quinn only saw drew get killed off here. So Mason Quinn will be fresh on all 6. Oak on the last 4 and Answer for the number 6.

Ron Banks

It's funny you mention Skeet being the dollar general version of Johnny Depp. That's literally why he was cast. Johnny was in the first nightmare on elm street, and they wanted to make this movie feel similar, so they got a look-alike. It was very intentional.

Ron Banks

Just realized the 4th wall breaking on the poster. It's just the actors, not them as their characters. Peep the guy's facial hair and women's hairstyles. Except Drew...she's the same.

Loved it - And? Yep, this brought 90s horror into the 2000s too imo. Which kicked off ''I know what you did last summer'' which came out in '97, and ''Urban legend'' feat a young Jared Leto, plus other recognizable faces, which came out in '98. And features Robert Englund too, like he's in ''Wishmaster'' in '97 as well. I didn't watch Scream for a while because of Scary movie. It literally ruined it for me! But now I can enjoy it again lol. Great reaction guys, can't wait for the next one. Thank you :)

Love this franchise! Can't wait to watch your reactions

Great reaction! I can't believe you guys didn't recognize Linda Blair from the exorcist. She was the reporter that tried interviewing Sidney when Dewey dropped off Sid and Tatum off at school.

since youve watched this i really hope we get a reaction to Scary Movie. its a really good parody of the original scream and yalls reaction would be great to it.

Ana

Omg I can't wait to watch when I'm off work. 🖤🖤

Stephanie Bedworth

I think I read somewhere ages ago that the picture above Tatum's bedside table is supposed to be Richard Dean Anderson from MacGyver.

Christina

Scary movie 2 is my favorite in that franchise. I would love to see them watch the entire thing…

Rachel Saunders

Loved the reaction! Can’t wait to see you guys react to the rest of them.

One of my favorite things about revisiting the Scream franchise recently was being able to recognize sooo many actors that have made an appearance in them.

This is one of my favorite horror movies, It's such a great and smart commentary on the horror genre, it's funny but also at the same time takes the characters and story seriously, it's doesn't go full parody like Scary Movie. And I thought it was brilliant that they made Billy be so obvious and suspicious that you automatically think it's too easy and that it has to be someone else, so when he is revealed it is pretty shocking. But another shocking thing was the fact that there was 2 killers, I'm not sure if that's still really ever been done before. The first 10 minutes is one of my favorite opening scenes in any film, it is done so well! I love all the red herrings and how they do make everyone look like a suspect. I love all the horror references and easter eggs from those movies, like the whole opening act was a homage to When A Stranger Calls. I really like going back and re-watching the video store scene. There are several hints at what's going to happen. Like Randy mentioning that Sydney's dad was going to pop up in the last reel which he did, also him saying there's always a reason to kill their girlfriend and his motive isn't too complicated, it's very straight forward. And also Billy and Stu are practically stalking him during that whole scene, Stu kind of does show his true colors there. And there are hints with Stu as well, like when they are by the lockers, he checks his forehead and is most likely making sure he didn't have a bruise from headbutting Sydney the night before. Yeah, Drew Berrymore was the biggest star, she was suppose to originally be the Sydney character but couldn't because of scheduling conflicts and she chose to go out the way she did and be the first kill and it really showed that no one was safe from here on out. I love Courtney Cox in this movie, she is just awful and I'm sure she had a blast, from playing the same character with Monica who is SO different and then playing Gale must have been very refreshing. So there are a lot of easter eggs and fun facts I wanted to share. Most of Matthew Lillard's dialog was improvised, his "houston we have a problem here", "I always had a thing for you Syd", his motive and my favorite "you hit me with the phone dick" and that was said because Skeet actually accidentally hit him with the phone, his hands were slippery from the fake blood and Matthew stayed in character. Linda Blaire (Regan from The Exorcist) played the demanding reporter at school. Dewey was suppose to die at the end but the test audience loved him so much and they did have a feeling he might so they had him film the thumbs up just in case. Originally Steve's death was FAR more graphic, in the VHS version you actually see his guts pouring out but they skimmed it back for future releases. For a while I thought I was crazy because that had also stuck with me but I never could find it or anyone that knew about it, lol. Neve Campbell and Drew Berrymore actually talked to the ghost face voice actor and none of the cast met him until after shooting. Rose McGowan actually could fit through the cat door and had to change her position so you couldn't tell. The second stab Sydney (more so her stunt double) does to Billy with the umbrella she actually missed the padding and really stabbed him and it was right in the spot where Skeet actually had heart surgery as a child, he has a metal wiring beneath the skin. So, that reaction from him was completely genuine. There were quite few famous actors that were up for these roles like Reese Witherspoon, Leonardo DiCaprio actually screen-tested for Billy, Seth Green (which he would have been a great Randy too), Freddy Prince Jr,

Mike

I'm not reading all that, but I'm giving it a like because that's a real fan, to write all that

Megan

Yeah they had to also pin Rose's shirt because she fit too easily through the door even though she tried her hardest to make herself not fit through it. I also heard that Drew getting killed off in the beginning was her idea and/or she refused to sign on unless her character died. Something along those lines but I've only heard it from others, not a direct source. As for Courtney, I find it funny that she took this role specifically so she could show that she could play this type of character...when she is literally this type of character in other things. I can't speak to her roles post Friends (though I do want to watch her new ghost show), but she was still this way on Friends and in Ace Ventura. She would let this side out often then usually Chandler was the comedic relief.

Dillon

"Low budget johnny depp" 💀

Dustee Lodholtz

This movie made me fall in love with Skeet Ulrich 😩🖤

August Rose Priv

I'm waiting for the YouTube cut. :)

J Bird

I agree 100% - there's just something about Scream 4 I can't get enough of.

Ryan Towell

Matthew Lillard is the only reason I watch this. He was hilarious...
