This episode truly left us in awe! The full revelation of Father Paul's character and his intricate backstory was nothing short of captivating. While we still have lingering questions, we are confident that they will be addressed in due time. And let's not forget Bev, whose presence adds an intriguing dynamic to the narrative. The dialogue in this episode was exceptionally well-crafted, in our opinion. It skillfully incorporates realistic conversations that enhance the authenticity of the story.

I want to say something but idk if it would be considered a spoiler so i guess i wont lol but great reaction. This show is top tier.

stephanie

that is not no damn “angel” the father is crazy 😂😂

GillyBean

this show is so beautifully profound. and good call early on about Pruitt!

i will talk about the bev poisoned father paul theory towards the end cuz right now would be spoilerish but this show is cool in the fact that you'll never hear the word vampire actually show up. i know the director did not want to define the creature like that because he didnt want his creature held to the common rules of vamps in media. and i assume in this world the concept of a vamp is not a thing which explain why the father thought of angel at first contact instead of blood sucking flying vampire

Great reaction. Glad you are enjoying the show as much as I did.

2023-05-31 16:23:17 I love the SHOOOW!! The discussions and themes on faith, theology and groupthink are next level. I agree that this is Flanagan's deepest story, which makes sense because it's his most personal: he worked on it for decades. Mike originally wrote MM as a novel (based on his own experience from alter boy to atheist.) He later turned it into a screenplay but no one would pick up; it was only his success w HH and Bly that he was able to get it made (thank god!) Great reaction, this show is so hard to wait for. You have our permission to binge it and release 2 per week! 😋

Amazing episode, I’m so glad you guys like it ! If you recall during the episode, Bev entered the priest’s house and looked at the wall and gasped 👀

Amber Walker

And his movie “Hush” had the main character (Flanagans wife) writing the midnight mass novel. It’s a fun Easter egg.

ElmSt Reactions

Well it kinda is cause your saying what isnt in the show, which is still a spoiler cause it takes that thinking out your head when watching future episodes

Veronica

LOVE this episode and your reactions. This is truly some of Mike's best work. Also, the music is just so so good. I so appreciate how this is a new iteration of the horror genre.

Veronica

BTW Michael Rosenbaum (Lex from Smallville) has a podcast where he interviewed a bunch of the cast and Mike himself. Highly recommend after this show.

Guys you love mystery shows so I have to ask you if you have seen "Bates Motel" I think you would like it. I don't know how the rest of the patreons feels about "Bates Motel" but me personally really liked that show. Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore are excellent in that show!

2023-06-05 04:54:25 Bev did ☠️ the poor doggie but she did not ☠️ Father Paul aka Father Pruitt. She literally worships Father Paul in her own sadistic manner of her being (self serving & she thinking she is better & above everyone else). But no, she did not poison the Priest. Fluffing love this show & the Bev actress is astounding because she acts so well we all hate her immediately & immensely. I even forget she was a “good” person in Hill House. All these actors are astounding in this show. It’s obvious why Flanagan rehires all these actors for most all of his productions; excluding Midnight Club. If he had maybe M.Club would have been more liked. It’s still good but not on this level like M Mass, Bly & Hill House.

Yeah, In their defense, the editing does make it seem like Bev poisoned the Priest. They made a point of showing her putting the poison can back again in storage and they seem to show her reaction the most whenever the priest is feeling ill around people, just like we see her reactions when the dog dies. Not to mention that both deaths are super similar. But it is true that Mike Flanagan and another writer on the show have publicly said that Bev did not poison him and that he was just drinking way too much of the blood, much more than the other townspeople, and that's the cause of this "death". However, there's absolutely nothing on the screen that can make us reach that conclusion. On the contrary, everyone else drinking it just gets healthier and healthier, so it's not a surprise a lot of people think Bev did it.
