We had an interesting review for this. Bill Skarsgård crushed it and the kids did great. Looking forward to what you all have to say about this one. Did we miss anything?

As always we thank you all for your support!

A year later, the real monsters in this movie were the adults of Derry. IT always came off as a way of the children to get over the fucked up lives. Its interesting to see Oak a year ago be more of a stickler for a basis of reality instead of just going along for the world as he tends to do now. He nailed the lesson and the societal concepts though.

FUCK YES CAN’T WAIT!!! I absolutely LOVE THIS FILM!!!

Yes, a lot of things in ch.1 is a hard pill to swallow, though a large bit has to do with IT, as its presence/powers affects the whole town, adults and children, amplifies emotions or dulls them, can make them see or not see, and at times, as you saw, push that influence enough to make a person do its biddings. IT doesn't -need- kids or fear, but kids are easier to manipulate and frighten, so like, easier prey for IT, versus Adults who have more "mature" fears about life, but IT will eat them too if they're an easy mark. Gunna stop there on IT facts until ch.2, cause there's more history and info there and don't want to spoil, I'll wait to fill in gaps there lol. And the kids will be Adults in ch 2. Also, this story also connects to other Stephen King books, all in the same "universe" like The Dark Tower series, Tommyknockers, Dreamcatcher, etc etc. I'll talk more with the sequel, because I'm afraid I'll let something important to the story get spoiled by accident. Though these 2 movies are more faithful adaptations to the book compared to Tim Currys IT(I believe it was released as a miniseries as well)

All I can say is I voted for scream lol still enjoyed your reaction.

The book is like 1,200 pages so they had to leave alot out. Having ready the book, a pretty solid way to condense it into a 4 hour 2 part movie series. The book really goes into a lot more detail (like harry potter) you can only get so much. You do miss out a lot of the fears. Like Ben's mom in the books was responsible for making him overweight and actually was mad if he didn't eat all his food. Eddie's mom use to control him so much more in the book and was over protective for more then just the clown. Beverly's dad was more physically abusive of her mother and her in the book etc. like the fears were alot more in depth in the book. They could have made IT a 5 season Netflix series and still not been able to cover everything. For context, all 7 harry potter books combined to 4,100 pages. IT (one book) was 1,200 so you can't fit it all in.

Everything the kids saw on their own was they fear beverly saw the blood and hair because she was scared of her puberty and instead of cutting their hands they had an orgy in the book😭. It is an alien sort of that can transform itself into ppls fears especially kids because its easier and he cause’s everyone to act differently like an infection on the town which is y everyone acts so weird

Lmao right on the money and reactions! Great job! I had a guy roommate when this movie came out and for a whole 3 months he freaked me out with impressions & then had me do his makeup to be IT that Halloween. Lots of stuff from Stephen King novels was taken to create Stranger Things - especially this and Stand By Me. You can especially tell in the 1st and 4th seasons with all of the plot influences and 80s nostalgia. I've now seen this movie 8 times...8 times too many 🤣

As for Oak saying none of this was real and it was a metaphor, I always thought that too. Included with the theory that you couldn't defeat It unless you overcome your personal fears/obstacles. Stephen King tells amazing stories about human nature through the guise of horror. As a film student, he was one of my favorites to study for those reasons. Also, he loves movies too haha He has a whole collection of short stories that students can purchase the rights to for $1 to make a movie and he likes to see the ones created. Y'all are amazing and keep you the incredible work 🤘

For me this wasn't scary lol it's too much over the top with the fears\creatures and jumpscares are cheap scares to me. It's still great with the cast but I thought the older one was scarier. Might just be me though. Also a fun fact is the original Richie was played by Seth Green haha. Will you guys be watching IT 2? Would understand if you didnt

When I watched the movie for the first time, I didn't like it. They changed and left out a lot of things. I understand that the book is too extensive to put everything in the movie, but to me it still feels like they just took some parts of the book and stringed them together with no common thread or context. I enjoy it a little bit more "watching it with" reactors, but it's not a movie I could watch regularly. Although there is a lot of weird stuff in the book, like the orgy, I highly recommend you reading it. The book goes way deeper in why the people act like they do and what IT is. The book is so much better than a movie about it could ever be. When I finished it, I felt pretty melancholic because of what happened to the friendship between the kids. For me the central part of the book is not the scary stuff, but the friendship of the protagonists and the dynamic of "the losers club". Still enjoyed your reaction. As always. 🙂

I actually voted for this movie because I really like it on my first watch but rewatching it with you guys, the tone is a bit all over the place and it feels like there is no thread linking the different scenes haha Still really enjoyable (compared to the second one, that I really didn't like) and I liked how It represented the fears within us !

I think you'll like IT 2 better

Love listening to you guys. I live a couple of miles outside Boston. I've driven into parts of Maine not terribly far away which you would not believe exist in this day and age. Super creepy and relieved to have left. Funny story: my ex was up in NH (not far from the Derry King used as inspiration). Saw these people he described as LEGIT looking like The Devil's Rejects. He was no dorky kid himself...reminds me of Mason n u crew...Harley, etc. Anyway, they were all living in this big bus with feral cats while this old dude was LITERALLY chopping a block of meat. There was a sign attached to a chain that read "Big Gus $50". He had to see: a gigantic dog (Malamute) which looked like a very dirty white wolf. He left with his friend, drove 10 mins n went back n got Gus. It took a year to get Gus to come n eat out of his hand. Guys lived 7 more years and I went and brought him a regal bed a couple of weeks before he was put down. Parts of ME n NH are no joke. It's why King sets his books there. His house BTW is super cool in Bangor...spiders intertwined in wrought-iron fence. Welcome to New England!

Probably already wrote enough and perhaps you don't read old comments. Just wanted to mention -- I never made it past the initial sewer scene with Georgie when this came out. Just awful really but I guess that's the point. Made it through with you guys though. One of the reasons I really prefer zombie stuff...little too realistic for a wuss like me. Life can be dark enough. Looking forward to UP...one of my all time cry/smile favs. Along with Ratatouille and WALL-E.
