Super excited! Have a great week guys!

Andrew Hansen

I have low expectations for Rings of Power. Hopefully it isn't as bad as the DragonBall super movie I watched yesterday eek, that was The Last Jedi levels of bad. I just want to finish the Lord of the Rings audiobooks before it comes out. Only 17 hours worth of audibook to go lol. Thankfully I can listen all day at work. Not going to be doing reactions but I hope to have my blog up and running and do reviews of all the episodes.

We are definitely trying to go in we zero expectations. They spent 715 million on season 1. With that amount, we hope the quality is there. But we won't be surprised if it's not.

Andrew Hansen

My concerns are worldview related and whether or not Tolkien is going to be rolling over in his grave over what they did with his story. Actually the big budget concerns me. Did they go for cheap action thrills (obviously not talking monetarily cheap) or a deep meaningful story.

Andrew Hansen

Couldn't stand the art style, I thought the premise of the bad guys strategy was kinda dumb and I didn't like what they did go the final villan. I would have at least shown what's going on in hell and the original version's reaction to the new version.

Bear in mind that the "creators" of Rings of Power have stated clearly and bluntly that they are ignoring the masterful epic written by Professor JRR Tolkien. They have said, quote, that they are presenting "the story Tolkien never wrote" which is not only a disgusting display of disrespect but also literally impossible. NO ONE improves upon Tolkien. Over half the characters are invented and those that bear names of Tolkien characters, such as Lady Galadriel, are wholly altered. The purposeful intent of the showrunners and activist actors is to modernize and push social justice agendas. This isn't my opinion but what they have proclaimed in every interview. I seriously doubt this travesty of a show will have any redeeming qualities as even the costuming, CGI, dialogue, etc are horrendous. However, even if it is passably decent as a fantasy series, remember that it is NOT the world created by Tolkien.

Im so hyped for rings of power hope its good

'activist actors'? You mean like they pick and choose their jobs based on how much woke they can get? not that they aren't almost all unknown actors who just want to work and have spent most of their lives dedicated to doing that.

Sharon Lathan

Actually, yes that is exactly what I mean, at least in the case of this job. Nearly every single actor has spoken first and foremost about their personal activism, even including "activist" in their bios, and the showrunners have made it crystal clear that modern agendas are FAR more important than presenting the ancient mythology Professor Tolkien created. These are facts. They do not dispute this. As for the point of actors just wanting to work, fair enough. For me personally, perhaps I am old-fashioned but I remember a time when actors cared about their craft and the product they were bringing to viewers. Such as oh, say 20 years ago when a huge group of actors, largely unknown, landed roles in LOTR and the FIRST thing they all did was immerse themselves into the NOVELS of Tolkien. No matter how familiar they were with Tolkien -- some such as Sir Christopher Lee (who knew Professor Tolkien) had read the novels yearly for decades while others like Viggo Mortensen had never cracked the book -- understood the honor and gravity of the production. Every actor believed deep in their souls that the overriding mission was to do as Peter Jackson said, "We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we weren't going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our own themes into these movies. In a way, we were trying to make these films for him (Tolkien), not for ourselves." Not trying to pick a fight. All I am pointing out for the Badd Medicine fellows is to not think for a millisecond that this show is representative of Tolkien or remotely accurate to the books.

I'm cautiously optimistic ... It may just be one of those movies you view separately, without comparing and contrasting it to the original masterpiece.

Most excited for Pirates, I've been watching along with you guys for the first time as well!

I'm pretty excited for Rings of Power! Idgas about the opinions of others, I'm just looking forward to more content in the world personally. Loosely based, fully based, not based at all on source material (books in this case)..... idc, I'm just looking for a great show with good story, interesting characters, and some epic fantasy. I'm an old hag who was around to listen to the same outpouring of criticism of Peter Jackson adapting LoTR before it was released and even after, and we see how that turned out in the end. Which is one reason why I've long ago learned to embrace a method of IGNORE THE CHATTER, WATCH FIRST, AND ANY PRAISE/CRITICIZE AFTER.The trailers have me intrigued and excited, so I cannot wait to check this one out with y'all. LET'S GOOOO!🤘🏻

Badd Medicine

We definitely understand why so many don't like what Amazon did. But we are still going in with an open mind. Hoping to be surprised it's good lol

Sorry if I missed this answer and you already said it, but aren't you going to see House of the Dragon? Haven't you seen Games of Thrones? If you haven't, that show is a must D:
