Chase Gardner

Nice I will watch this after work tonight

I'm so pumped! Gonna pick up my dinner and tune in!

Loved the reaction guys, not sure if you picked up on it during the watch through but the name of the girl that has the curse to turn into a snake is Nagini (so she is actually Voldomorts snake companion in the original series). By that stage the curse had taken full affect and she could no longer return to her human form. Oh and unfortunately even tho Johnny Depp was great in this, because of the “stuff” he doesn’t reprise the role from here on out.

Celine

The person you saw in the mirror is Aberforth Dumbledore with Harry. He is also a brother of Dumbledore everyone knew about and who you see in the last Hogwarts movie. Aurelius Dumbledore here is the „secret“ brother no one really knew about

Celine

Also I just wanted to tell you since it sounds like you are expecting a finale in the next movie, this series contains five movies in total. The last two are just not out yet so the next one is not the finale but actually really the middle of the whole series

Brittany Lewandowski

Not sure if you noticed but the Asian girls name was 'Nagini' as in Voldemorts Snake. Somehow she ends up with Voldemort and I hope we find out how. Clearly by then she was permanently stuck as a snake. And by " Closer then brothers" Dumbledore means they were loved. Dumbledore was in love with Grindelwald.)Albus is gay, JK announced it soon after the DH book was released. Also not sure if you noticed but Grindelwald has the elder wand, it's not Dumbledores at this point. Aurerlias is noth the brother in the original HP movies, That brother was Alberforth.

I only really like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, in this lot of movies. The sequels aren't bad but I feel like there are some incoherences in the timeline. PROS +Obviously, I enjoy all the throw backs to the Potter movies, references, and name drop like Nicholas Flamel, Mcgonagall, Leta Lestrange, Nagini, etc. Seeing Hogwarts again. +The creatures are amazing. It's nice to see more of the magic world since in the Potter movies, we don't get to see that many of them (while we get to know a bunch in the books). The Niffler(s) are awesome. +Newt's character and Jacob. I mean, for me, they are the highlights of these movies. I love them individually but also their friendship. +The visual effects and the spells. Great effects, a lot of action. CONS -The wizards outfits were a bit lost in the making of these movies. If you recall in the Potter movies, which happened many years after Fantastic Beast, the sorcerer's robes and hats are never showed. Which I feel is unfortunate because timeline wise, it just seems strange for wizard to evolve backwards, going from suits to robes. -Another thing that bothers me quite a lot is how Jude Law looks a bit too young to play Dumbledore. The events from FB happen 11 years before Dumbledore met Tom Riddle. Which if you remember in the 6th movie, when he meets him at the orphanage, Dumbledore already looks quite old. This could've been easily fixed by just making Jude look older or even, have a longer beard lol. But maybe I'm just knitpicking. -The visual effects and the spells. (yes, this is a con aswell). I just feel like the movies tried to be too grandiose with making a bunch of new spells never seen before. A bit overused in everything, to be honest (IMO). It doesn't seem as natural as it felt when watching the Potter movies. It almost feels like the magic world but a different dimension. -Queenie switching side. I mean, I understand where she's coming from but it seems weird to me that she followed Grindelwald. Was it really necessary? She wants to be with Jacob so badly that she separates herself from him and puts her trust in a man she's been warned about for years? Just disappointing. -The plot and twists and turns. The element of surprise is always good but I feel like they are trying too hard to be mindblowing. It's slightly all getting very confusing to me. When things get too complicated, I kinda lose some interest, that I want it or not. Anyway, this is how I feel about the movies. The last one is probably my least favorite, but I'll still watch you guys' reaction because I'm very curious of what you'll think of it and the conclusion. EDIT: If there is more Harry Potter movies or a series coming out in the future, I think that developing on the Marauder's era would be amazing. I mean, with that fanmade film you guys reacted to, there is definitely a lot to be told about Snape, Lily, James and the rest of the maurauders. As well as the ascension of Lord Voldemort to power until he was destroyed by HP. Another thing that would be nice to see is a movie or a short series about Voldemort's origin story. His mom using a love potion on the Tom Riddle's father, conceiving Tom with fake love. The Gaunt history, with the ring (that became once of Voldemort's horcruxe). So much to tell! :D

The thing is Jude doesn't look to young to play Dumbledore, Michael Gambon was to old to play the young Dumbledore in HBP. Dumbledore in this movie is is the same age as Jude Law. So he is actually perfect for it. They should have cast some one else to be young Dumbledore in HBP. But also from age 45-56 You would look much older anyway. Especially at that age. And with Queenie her thought is without following with Grindelwald she couldn't be with Jacob. Because it's illegal for her to date Jacob. Staying with Jacob could put her in jail while going with Grindelwald at least gives her a chance of ending up with Jacob. So it makes a lot of sense. if sher hadn't gone with Gellert I would have been disappointed in that moment. As for the spells we didn't see every spell there was in the HP stories so not really sure why that bothers you. Obviously we'd see ones we'd never seen before. as for the clothes I don't think they were evolving backwards. There were robes worn in Dumbledores class. Flashy robes like older albus wore is probably just something older wizards wear and not young ones. Probably an ode to Merlin(who was a Slytherin) But also that popular style changes through time.

Miss_CJ

Yeah idk, but there is incoherence, and my brain just can't accept it x) Although, I do think Jude Law looks good as younger Dumbledore.

Lifehouse

Bro's! Go back into the movie or check imdb.. you guys missed the name of the lady that can turn into a snake ;-)

Kunzite Blossom

One of the biggest things I hate about this movie is McGonagall. Given in the books, its easily implied when she would have been born which is October 4, 1935, several years AFTER this movie takes place. Unless a time turner is somehow involved, which is a theory a lot of us would like to believe. However, everything else was great. The plot twists for Credence, the story, even Queenie switching sides was amazing. Now, most people claim it to be "out of character" but I feel like it suits her perfectly. Madam President even said at the start of the movie, they cut his tongue out because he can be very persuasive. He knew Queenie wanted to marry a muggle and in her country, it was illegal. By saying if he ruled and she could marry him, he could get her to join his side. I feel like Queenie is the type of person to do anything for someone she loves, Jacob refuses to marry her because he doesn't want her to go to jail. In her eyes, it being legalized is the only way she can marry him. She's upset when Jacob thinks shes crazy at the start of the film, and him saying it out loud I think was the final trigger. She is doing what she thinks will help them both, and wants to prove that (and prove Jacob she isn't crazy) by making sure she can marry him.

Kunzite Blossom

I disagree about Queenie as depending on how you look at it, it makes a lot of sense, but I can understand the whole age of Dumbledore thing being really off and confusing people. Gambon was too old to play a younger Dumbledore when visiting young Tom Riddle, but Jude Law still seem to be around the right age for this time. This takes place in 1927. Tom was born 1926, and was visited by Dumbledore in 1938. Dumbledore died in 1997 at the age of 115 (or around that). If we take it he died at 115 specifically, this would mean this film takes place 70 years before he died putting him at 45 years old. So he had to be 59 when he first met Tom. So Gambon was too old for a younger Dumbledore, but I guess the film just didn't want to recast for the two scenes (because Chamber of Secrets flashback Tom shows Harry, Dumbledore would also have been too old)

Chase Gardner

i think its harder to do a true sequel with the harry potter universe. i mean they do have a broadway play of the cursed child that takes place after harry potter story. i personally love these fantastic beasts movies i want them to finish off newt scamander story with an epic ending i am excited to see your reaction to the third installment of fantastic beasts movies i loved what they explored here in crimes of grindlewald johnny depp played that character amazing, one of my favorite performences of johnny depp in grindlewald. jude law amazing as dumbledore. and eddie redmayne as newt is a lovable character to get behind in this crazy story. and the music in this movie is outstanding.

Dannielle

My issues with this series is that they're trying to combine Newts story and the Dumbledore/Grindelwald story and they just don't mesh. I'd rather have fun animal adventures with Newt and Jacob as it's own thing, and the complex relationship and eventual duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald as it's own thing too. Also because for some reason they decided to make these 5 movies and not 3 a lot of it feels unnecessary and like they're just trying to fill in time, and because of the bad pacing in this movie it somehow feels like a lot is happening and nothing is happening at the same time. Also with the way this movie and the next one performed they might not even finish them. Jacob and Newt are the standout characters of this series and I do love Jude Law as Dumbledore. Just so you guys know and aren't confused because they don't explain it in movie, Johnny Depp is replaced by Mads Mikkelsen for the next movie. While I don't agree with him being replaced in the way they did, I think Johnny Depp was greatly miscast for Grindelwald. Mads is definitely better suited to this role and is fantastic in the next movie.

Dannielle

I actually agree about Queenie, that felt out of nowhere. I get she wants to marry Jacob and the spell she cast on him in the beginning is so very wrong so she shows signs of doing wrong things. Joining with a murderer who she knows hates muggles and either wants to kill them or rule them feels like a big leap. Plus Jacob is on the side of trying to bring this guy down, she walked away from Jacob to join him. That needed to be written much better if you want me to buy that.

Nakia Smith

I believe there are two additional movies planned.

Miss_CJ

I have to agree with you here. Mads Mikkelsen feels more suited for the role of Grindelwald. I love Johnny Depp, I think he is a super lovable and talented actor but I don't think he was well casted here. I mean to a limit, it would've been funny to see him as Nicholas Flamel, being all quirky and weird. x)

Kaitlin Tulbert

Look closely at Grindelwald's wand... think about who else you've seen with that wand!

Dasypodidae

Man, never knew I was gonna love these movies so much. The haters probably compare them to much to the Harry Potter movies. Great reaction guys. I think you missed Nagini and the wand that Grindelwald is holding.

Yenni Huynh

Don’t forget that Nagini is the name of Voldemorts snake 😉

Maria Myridinas

Wait till you see the third one ;)

Veronica

Jude Law as Young Dumbledore, Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, Claudia Kim as Nagini, Callum Turner as Theseus...I mean you can't go wrong with new additions to a cast with these amazing actors. I really loved the Boggart scene as a callback (or call forward I guess since this happened before) to Prisoner of Azkaban. In one of the other Defense Against the Dark Arts scenes, I enjoyed seeing another McLaggen family member. In the Half-Blood Prince, a descendent of the McLaggen that Dumbledore calls out in this film is Cormac, the guy who liked Hermione who also competed against Ron for a spot on the Quidditch team. I also really thought that final fight scene was beyond epic. Last thought: the music from these films always brings me joy. Thank you again for such great reactions!

Badd Medicine

Thank you! It's always interesting to see everyone's perspectives on these films. We might have missed that.

Badd Medicine

I think you're on to something there. HP was just so epic that any follow up would be hard to bee on that level.

Celine

yes but we sadly have to wait a little bit. The series schedule was pushed back because of covid and the third film was planned to come out way sooner than this year april 2022. It is speculated that the fourth film will come out around 2024 and the fifth film around 2026 (it is usually a two year break between those movies: first one 2016, second 2018, third 2022 only because of covid). So we all have to wait a while for the next one....excited to watch the third one again next week with you

appryntice

I often take into consideration just how strong Grindlewald is through his interaction with Queenie. The fact that you can wholly convince someone that you can give them what they want through the methods of your own agenda, when they can literally read your mind?? He has incredible power...she literally had her wand drawn to him, and he turned her just by mentioning what she wanted most? Queenie has a very unique demeanor (lol), but she is far from stupid. So it's such an interesting insight on just how powerful Grindlewald actually is. Wondering if he can read minds as well tbh...🤔

LunaLee

Love your reaction :) Just a quick note as someone who is autistic I do think Newt is autistic coded as Oak mentioned. However, as I haven't seen anyone mention it, we don't use the term Asperger's anymore it is no longer an official diagnosis. It is just ASD now. A lot of us also don't like the term Asperger's as it was named after Hans Asperger who had links to the Nazi regime, he hand in identifying children with disabilities. People who were "high functioning" he pleaded a case of how they could help the Reich but if they were what he considered "low functioning" he would send them a ward in Vienna that was known to either experiment or euthanize children.

in case you missed it, Nagini the maledictus is the same snake that Voldemort owned in the harry potter book/film. As you see, nagini used to be human but through time she became a snake permanently because of the blood curse she had. you can find more information about her in the wizarding world website.

Sly Dakota

I hope they say more about Nagini. I want to know how she goes from Creedence’s ex-girlfriend, left in Paris to Voldemort’s pet snake!

Anonymous

Grindlewald is currently the owner or the elder wand in this series. When Dumbledore takes down grindlewald he will have the wand he uses in the harry potter series itself. Also there were many callback to the first movie the mirror was one, the stone, Nicholas of course. Nagini is the snake voldemort takes in. There's a lot of little hints at other potter books and movies. I enjoy these movies just as I did with the potter movies. I grew up as they came out book and movie as a kid personally. I remember myself crying at a beach Cafe in Vietnam, the week I got married when I heard Alan Rickman had passed. This series I enjoy and can't wait to see you guys do the next one. Can't wait for the fourth one comes out.

Klaas

I am here, you have successfully convinced me to join your patreon. let's goooo

Magda Ch

Thank you guys for your reactions, I join your Patreon precisely because of the depth that you put into your opinions at the end of the video, and for the question you made at the end, I think it's more complicated to make sequels, because personally I feel like they force the story, to create more content just because a story was well received, and you want to get more out of it, but the prequel, is the story of the beginning, how everything became to be, it has more nostalgia, yes, but I think it likes better. Now about FB, the third movie, (I know you've already seen it that's why I can leave you these comment), many people didn't like it, I don't believe exactly because they think they're expanding the franchise, it's because they just didn't do it right, I'm not that expert in cinematography, but I can tell certain things, like the narrative of the third story, it doesn't have an order, it doesn't make much sense, even by changing the actor, they changed the character in part, it feels very different as the change of Dumbledore's actors, it feels like another character, they destroyed Credence's story too, they introduced more new characters which they didn't build them enough to be able to sympathize with them, I think it was a poorly told story, a bad script, many forced things, and left me with the feeling that they no longer mess with this world, unless they have a well-constructed story. Well, my opinion hehe. I really like the first two Fantastic Beast, and I did wanted to see more of this world :(

Badd Medicine

Thank you for the support here! We really do appreciate it. And that's a fair criticism to have. I believe there are 2 more to come. Will you give those a shot?

Magda Ch

Yeah I will give them a shot, because I need to see if they fix it hehe. Anyways I will see anything related to the HP world! :)

Lisette C.

Don't sell yourself short, Oak. Of course listening to the audiobooks is "reading the books"! Love that you do that btw and would absolutely love a final review, once you are done! 🙂❤

Grandma’s4GreatReacts

Did you notice in the opening carriage shots when the poly juice potion wore off that Grindelwald has the ELDER wand that Dumbledore. eventually would have? Go back and look.
