I think I found this movie during the lockdowns and, as a big sci-fi fan, was shocked I'd never heard of it. Excited to watch it again w y'all!

The people that played Ninja and Yolandi are actually a rap duo from South Africa called Die Antwoord, so their names and hair cuts are really just them lol, you can also see them wearing their merch, and hearing their music throughout the movie, but I thought they did a pretty good job even though they aren't actors, overall great movie with unlikely heroes, and thought provoking themes, and just fun in general :D

What i love about chappie is the fact that there are no clear heroes or villians. All of them are up for debate. Both Deon and mullet hugh are going against their company for their own selfish needs. Deon wants to create his AI when he was told no, and Hugh wants his Moose project to happen when he was told no. The gang are all complicent and willing criminals who kill and rob for money. And Chappie is just a child pretty much soaking in whats being taught,so you cant fault him for anything. So everyone is doing bad guy stuff,but for different reasons and emotional motives. Deon is clearly who youre supposed to root for,but he still is doing illegal activity. But man,such a fun and entertaining movie. Love it so much!!
