So excited!!!! Can't wait to get off work to watch this with you guys

Butthats

I can't believe this series is about to end!!

Crispin

To think people said at the beginning you were never gonna finish this lol, what a titan of show you've ticked off *pun intended

Butthats

tbh I was already done with Eren after the rooftop serumgate in S3 haha

Keeza

Belter😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Anxiety Plays

ITS HAPPENING!! I have been waiting for this moment for MONTHSSSS! Enjoy the ride guys, it’s going to be PEAK

Kimmie M

I have my tissues ready 🤧😭

Obinna

YES do the second watch in dub Dub is not as bad as people say it is and you guys are more used to English your gonna catch alot more and draw in a different audience who also loved it in dub and sub

Damian Ives

Dub is better IMO. Not just for the simple fact that I want to watch the show not read it but it allows you to connect better with the characters when you can understand the language they are speaking. Again my opinion.

Pham Hung

Erwin's speech in dub is one of my favorite piece of dialogue in all of fiction.

Clorox bleach G

Ymir and Historia are purposely designed to look similar so your not wrong by thinking they look similar Mason Quinn.

Stray

Literally the only good part of the dub imo.

Stray

I started watching the dub, but finished the show in sub after I read the manga. Enjoyed it in both but the scene where Eren is speaking to them all in Paths hits so hard in Sub, compared to Dub

David Wong

Armin's face, while looking at the falling, burning Hange, was particularly horrified because he's the only other person who knows what it feels like to be burned alive by a colossal titan.

KamiGema

“This is the end~~~ Hold your breath and Cooouunt to ten~~~”

Zachary Jennings

There are some pretty good videos on youtube going through a lot of the foreshadowing and hidden details you guys could check out

Norberto Ramirez

NONE of u r ready for whats coming!!!!!!!!! :D :D

Lovisa🍭

Rest in power Hange ❤️

chonkybae

Colossal Titan is 60metre and Wall Titan is 50metre.

David Wong

The man who helped Hange get up off the ground in the afterlife was Moblit, the same guy who saved her life by pushing her into the chimney when Bertholdt turned into the Colossal Titan.

Kevin

IMPORTANT: There are multiple scenes that come in and out during the credits for the very last episode that are important. You guys will want to talk right as they start, but try to hold off and pay attention until the very end of the video to catch everything.

Ibraheem

I really want to watch it today but I have midterm tomorrow 😔

Sean

Listening to your recap at the end, you guys should definitely at some point rewatch the show, whether thats on your own or on Patreon. But, I think there are so many amazing shows you guys have yet to see that you guys should check out before you rewatch. Also with the dub and sub, there are a lot of shows that have great Dubs, including AOT, and you shouldn't feel bad about choosing dub for a series, after all, its our own language. Keep up the good work!

Alexiani Gollarza

I loved how you discussed EVERYTHING at the end. A really complete review. For me it was that kid, he marked me and the hope you had with Hange, we felt it as well. And YESSSSSS, I fully suport a second watch, I know it takes a lot of time but we are here, we can wait is you decide to do it. Man, can't wait for next week.

JOJO

yes, to those of us who has been watching eren since 2013 (and myself since 2015) I held out hope and was heartbroken about his decision. It was like watching an old friend who you always thought was a hero turn into a villian. Because for years the eren i thought of in my head was the one from seasons 1-3, so it felt i guess closer to what armen and mikasa feel rn prolly

Kel

I’ve always said that you can’t truly appreciate the genius of this story until you’re watching for the second time. As much as your mind is blown right now, it’s nothing compared to what it will be when you go back and watch again. I’d be SO excited for a rewatch in dub! Now that you know the story, you’ll be able to follow along easier in dub and notice all the little things you missed first time through because you kept having to read. I’ve watched both many times and like both, but I did notice more things while watching dub. And that’s my piece on it. Either way I can’t believe we’re already here at the end. Dave, I’m sorry for your loss. Just before I pressed play on this I remembered Hange and knew this one was going to be hard on you. 🫂

Pham Hung

Re: Mason Quinn Three Questions. I think the second time through the series will answer your first question about Eren. Did you think the author planted enough hints and seeds for his transgression? Could you at least understand why he went with the nuclear option with all the horrors that the island went through? I think these questions could vary from person to person but most of the fandom agree that Isayama has done enough on a rewatch to at least understand the philosophy behind the Eren character. As for the airship raid, I think the author accomplished two things with that scene: 1. to re-reaffirm that the wall titans are vunerable (established by warships and Hange) but there are just too many of them and 2. Eren has contingency for airborne refuge/counter-attack, if given enough time, he will complete the rumbling and slaughter everyone who "escaped" with the other airships. Armin's colossal is not bigger than the wall titans but by transforming, he essentially become a nuke.

Isabel Schertel

When I watched it for the first time, I was just as confused. Eren kept saying he's doing what he wants, being who he's always been, he's free bla bla, but I just couldn't believe it. I thought that if he thinks this is the only way to end all wars, I can see where he's coming from. Humanity will destroy itself sooner or later, it's been evident throughout the whole show. I refused to be on either side, I just wanted to know why. I wasn't ready for the ending and the reasons 🥲

CamilleR

I knew Dave would be sad about the Hange death. 😭

MooLake

I’m so hyped for next week. But also sad that this bad medicine era is coming to an end.

JOJO

Youll find the translation for dub way better than the subbed version, on top of that it would be more interesting to see your second watch in dub for us who already saw your reaction to sub. I watched it subbed first and then dubbed like twice and now subbed with you guys and i recommend doing the second watch in dub you wont regret it:)

MooLake

Reiner said it best, of everyone to have that power, Eren is the worst.

MooLake

Yes! Please do a rewatch in dub on the channel! I’m so down for that

Skellyp

If you read the one short story in the mid card at the end of season 1, it talks about a guy who tried to dig a hole to get to the other side of the wall. Long story short, He hit rock so it implies the wall titans feet are in the ground some. So they can in fact be the same size.

Alyek

Personally I had given up on eren after he beat up armin and mikasa and was back on his side when he wanted to stop the euthanizing eldians plan and then gave up on him again for his genocide plan…

Skellyp

And the same guy who always has her back through the show. You’ll notice on the rewatch.

Nachtarox x

Idk if someone else said it already, about Masons question, no Armins colossal is the same size. Only difference is that his transformation would explode the whole area. (Thats one thing i think the author added later on, because remembering the first episode, it was quite the explosion, yes, but not at all as big how it was demonstrated in Season 4.)

Obinna

Armins moment on the last special is better too Way better

Miki

yeagerist till the day I die stay humble or get rumbled eren stood on business he succeeds in every promise he ever made

Rena Unnie

Eren is and will always be my favorite character since season 1, episode 1, whether he's a villain or a hero.

Ronald Bohne

Hange best character. As for Erens actions, I think the argument that this is genocide is a moot point. Genocide would have been inflicted on them otherwise and he did wait for them to declare war themselves first. The size of a population does not indicate justice. The rest of the world declared war on them, the world just happened to have more people. War is messy, and nobody is right.

Feli Moon

I never lost hope. Thank you for your reaction and review. This series is everything. The scene with Levi and Hange is one of my favorites.

Jennie 彡☆

idk if yall noticed but armin and annie like each other lol 🤭

Golladan

The anime doesn't explain it well, but when Eren was talking the kid at the start, he was talking a different language.

Michael Bush

I dont know if you guys saw it but i said to watch and pay attention all the bird motifs....trust me.

lackingnames

It's not moot because that wasn't the only option. War is messy yes but genocide is not the default of any war. You're trying to justify him commiting genocide because of something his enemies MIGHT do. That is how people get there in real life. Eren is wrong here

lackingnames

+1 for rewatching in dub

existentiallynowhere

to answer your question about whether people had written Eren off at this point, I'll say that the fandom was (and still is) kind of split in terms of supporting or condemning the Rumbling. You'll even notice it in this comment section, people arguing about whether Eren was right to use the Rumbling in the first place. I personally can see the points of both sides, but think that they both kind of miss the mark in terms of the point of the show, which I think is that there is never a 'right' way when in comes to war, and that all war is tragedy for all sides. Just my opinion.

Elle

Not sure if you guys already noticed this detail, but the first episode of this series is called “To you, in 2000 Years”. In that same episode one of the first scenes in Eren waking up from his dream, aka memories from the future. And the 80th episode is called “From You, 2000 Years Ago”. I love this detail because on episode 80 we see all of Ymirs past and how she became the founder, which indicates that that is what Eren saw in the first episode. It is also the episode where Eren reaches Ymir and sides with her, also transforming into the Founding Titan in the process. The first episode parallels to the 80th. Eren basically saw the events in the 80th episode, where everything starts to fall into place.

Drift3r

The credit song is called "Under The Tree" and it was written and performed by the band called SiM. It was written from the perspective of Mikasa. So the walking feet shown belong to Mikasa. Whereas the "The Rumbling" song for the opening of the 2nd half of Season 4 was also written and performed by the same band. That song was written from the perspective of Eren.

Marco Oliveira

The only Issue I had with this is the delays and length of time between releases. Otherwise, I may be one of the few to think it is perfectly written all the way to the end.

Rafael Ramirez

I was iffy about Eren most of season 4 but figured there was something they could pull to change my mind again but not after that rumbling sequence this episode lol

Ronald Bohne

Thats exactly what his enemies did (fear for what what he might do). Thus why I said nobody is right ... I never said Eren was correct here. I literally said there is no greater justice based on population size. So many people say he is in the wrong because he is killing so much more people. I am saying, well he isnt any more wrong than anyone else in the entire show. Everyone has blood on their hands. I find it odd how people jump off the Eren bandwagon and say hes wrong when literally everyone is doing the same thing. That is what AoT is. Almost everyone is guilty and thats why Falco is in the ending scenes, he represents the only innocence in the show.

How2Pot

I think the colossol titan user can control if theres an explosion or not

Tim Schulte

A dub re-watch would be great

Nate

I can’t believe this is actually coming to an end! These last two episodes no matter how many times I watch it lol are always emotional. Hange’s scene 💔😭 every time. I second oaks idea of watching aot in dub now that you’ve watched it in sub. It would be awesome to see you guys rewatch it again and catch all the the things that you know now! Definitely looking forward to you guys reacting to death note next

Buschi

Successor of Erwin Smith, Hange Zoë, 14th commander of the Survey Corps, gave her life in a situation that seemed hopeless for a slim chance of victory, for a small spark of hope, just like her predecessor did before her. Even though I read the manga and knew she would die I still cried. Mappa just nailed her last moments giving her the cool exit she wanted and deserved. I also tear up now anytime I hear "Bauklötze"(check it out!).. Nice little detail in the afterlife scene with Hange, Erwin and the others: you can see Keith Shadis standing next to Sasha and in another shot you can also spot Pixis.

Sean Carroll

I never understood this complaint. We have to wait 2 or 3 years for movie series to bring out sequels and anime fans can’t wait a year in between seasons. Especially since season 4 was the hardest to animate. People these days have gotten so impatient with TikTok brain that they aren’t able to wait for things anymore

Marco Oliveira

I agree. it's more so that I had dedicated myself to watching the show from close to day one. so the anticipation was a killer when I had to wait for the final special. No real complaints to the studio for the time it took, just my impatience and emotions kicking up.

peachy af

To answer Mason quinn, yeah i gave up entirely on eren by this point. I gave up on him some time ago and I wanted him dead by this point. i understand him, and i understand that hate will be never ending cycle as long as there's at least 2 humans alive, but still i couldnt stomach him being forgiven by this point. I didnt really believe there was any part that could pull him back to reality because he's always had such a strong conviction as a character + the attack titan makes it so that he's always basically a slave to freedom

TexasSnyper

It's interesting to see the different positions within the Badd Medicine crew on their POV about Eren and its mimicked in the show. Clearly The Oak is with Armin in that he still is holding onto that glimmer of hope of being able to get Eren to see the error in his ways and change himself.

Kenneth Garner

idk oak i think being a little hogwarts kid with a bad attitude is a little different than mass genocide of a the human race lmao

Yarod Razo

I'll be here for the rewatch 🗣️ Erwin speech in English is 🗣️firee

Ana

Team Eren

Nachtarox x

than it wouldnt make sense why armin didnt transform in the battle against his comrades though. That has been a little discussion since back then.

Roland Holmes

A second watch in Dub would be awesome!! There's so many things that really come together when you can take in all in for a second time while knowing the context/everything that happens.

Ivan Rasmussen

The Malfoy comparison had me cracking up. Malfoy was bad but he wasn't trampeling millions of people to death. Now if Voldemort had a change of heart and became good then that'd be closer at least lol. Some people are just too far gone as you Walking Dead fans know ;)

Nere Rodriguez

To answer Quinn, I felt like Armin, I was so shocked and heartbroken by everything Eren was doing and deep inside I was hoping they would convince him to stop the rumbling. Then we watched the "There's nothing to discuss here" part and my heart broke. Also, RIP our badass Commander Hange. I criiiiiied my eyes out the first time I watched this episode and still get teary eyes when I rewatch this scene. I knew you would get sad about her passing. Great reaction guys and can't wait for the finale <3

ScivarWarlock

April 2013 to November 2023. To answer you're question, it was maddening having to wait but extremely satisfying to have the relief of it ending. I'm terribly sad that it's over, but I've seen the whole series at least four times. It never gets less amazing. Ten years of Attack on Titan, I've lost friends and family in all that time, some who never got to the the ending. I'm a different person from when it started. Even though much as changed, one thing stayed the same.. Attack on Titan is awesome.

Akiyama Itsuharu

as a fan from the 1st day it was released. The worst wait are the 5 years. Then these "movie" part 1 came out, the tense and have to wait the other part come out, really frustrated xD. Also i will not say truly anything about my opinions until you guys finish watching it,then I will tell mine.

Eric Wallace

You absolutely need to watch and pay attention to end Credits for the last one

Eric

I've watched dubbed 3 times and sub probably 7. Sub is better but dub is good! I also am absolutely down for a 2nd watch of AOT, I feel like I haven't seen very many true 2nd watch reactions

justin

I'm gonna go ahead and give Diamond Dave credit on his prediction regardless of whats next.

Thiago Gaspar

I'm so happy to see you guys getting to the end of this fantastic story! There's no better anime script, and I dare say movies and series too, than Attack on Titan! I'm more than looking forward to next week... My bets are that Answer and The Oak will cry like babies hahaha Love U all! : )

Kalisa Fox

Armins Titan is 60m tall, the wall titans are 50m tall, so Armin is bigger but not massivly so.

Artem Dmytrenko

You must watch the credits in the next one to the end. I remember from manga times there was a controversy about how the "post-story", but I think it's really cool and on-brand.

Thiago Gaspar

You didn't notice more in the scene right at the beginning of the episode of Mikasa talking to Eren leaning against the tree and asking why he was crying, it's the first scene of the first episode of the anime! And it's interesting that you remembered this... ; )

Thtjustinguy

The last time I watched AoT was before these last 2 episodes were released. I ended up never watching them, and seen you guys started the journey. I'm now finally watching these 2 episodes and I'm glad it's with you guys. However, I guess we waiting another week for episode 2. lol

Whyrie

I would loooove to see y’all do the rewatch!! Yes yes!

Daanaa

Can't wait for next week finale!! What a wonderful journey this has been watching with you guys!

Daanaa

Spirit World = The Paths

B23

yeah, i wouldn't mind a re-watch on dub :) this is my what 10th re-watch, and yes, you will still notice some details!! anyway, can't wait for the final season finale the final chapter episode 😉.. I can't believe we're here 🥹🥲

DrakDoodles

I will share the thoughts I had back when I watched this for the first time. This episode continued to confirm the time paradox theory for me. It wasn't even a theory to me at that point, too many things had confirmed it. For example, Eren saw the kid being beat up and he knows he's going to save him, even if he finds it almost meaningless since he's going to kill him later on anyway, but he still saves him, because "It's already been determined." It seems he's unable to change the memories of the future because..... well, they show the future. Which begs the question, who determined it? Well, it can only be Eren right? That's how that sort of time-loop works. (Another example is the third Harry Potter movie!) Eren also reveals in this episode "When I realized humanity had not perished beyond the walls, I was disappointed. I wanted to wipe it all away. I wished for this." While at the same time apologizing...? Up until this point I had been very dismissive of Eren and I enjoyed this brief look inside his head because it made me understand him a little bit more. I went from viewing him as this edgy mastermind to a delusional and broken person. Sad! So, if he really is in a fixed timeline where everything he does leads to the events that happen no matter what, then "Eren, in what way are you free?" is a good question indeed!!

DepressedSoggyWaffle

Yes to Mason Quinn. Eren is stuck in a Bootstrap Paradox. Even as a diehard sub advocate, I’m ALL for a rewatch even if it’s in dub! I’ve been dying for a good channel to do a second rewatch and I think y’all would kill it.

Fajar Kurniawan

as many has said, and I say it again : do not skip the end roll credit on the final episode🙏

BOO

I think they should watch with Dub! I’ve never watched with Dub before (a few scenes here and there) but it will be an awesome journey to rewatch together.

Sean Carroll

No the wall titans are also 60m tall. The walls were 50m tall because the titans were buried 10m into the ground. This is accurate when you look at the miner story from season 1 finale where he couldn’t dig underneath the wall. Because he kept knocking into the wall titan feet

Wonderxfull

I can not wait to see the last episode with you all. Did someone say something about a music profile that was put together at some point? Like early on? If not, I would love to see a reaction to the songs- openings and endings (including the last one)- with lyrics! (If possible.) I would not mind seeing a dub rewatch at some point.. I know that would be a lot considering you have already seen the show at that point, the show is not exactly short, and you have tons of other requests to get to. (Oh and please do not miss the after credits- I know its highly unlikely that you will, with the hundred other comments about it and you have all been great about not skipping them.)

e

they shouldve shot floch just for good measure

Clorox bleach G

Watching with you I believe is my 6th rewatch? I started AOT when episode 1 first came out in 2013. The shows grown with me so I feel super attached to it

Feli Moon

SiM is a great band. They did The rumbling and Under the tree. I'm going to see them live in 2 weeks and I already know that I'm going to cry when they're playing these two songs.

Gu

I feel the sense philosophical political messages get missed in these reactions as the discussions don't go over them nearly enough rather just take it as " he finally "

TheMilkMan

One final episode left, it's almost over, we made it here boys. Rest in Power, Hange Zoe, your sacrifice was noble. Floch, screw you, if he didn't shoot the plane, then the launch wouldn't have been delayed hence Hange wouldn't have had to stay back. And to answer Mason Quinn's question, I've given up on Eren probably around when he and Zeke are trying to make contact, Eren is too far gone, he's Jinx from Arcane gone, like Reiner said, "even if we make it out alive, our sins are too great to be forgiven".

Onomatopeja

The best episode still ahead. Can't wait to hear your thoughts about the ending. You will see why it may seems... nah, you'll just see. About rewatch with dub, I don't like Eren's VA and sound of his titan. Like godzilla without puberty. In rewatch it's good to focus on images, so dub will fine for that. You will see some crazy foreshadowing. Different meaning of most of scenes etc.

Edwin

There was no option , he literally said he wants his closest friends to live long lives. He did that cause he wanted to see his friends live happy and potentially have kids one day, not for them to get bombed by the rest of the world in 50 years

Jon

i’ve probably watched 100+ anime, and AoT is my top 2 favorite of all time. The story-writing, pacing, the god-tier visuals (S1-S3. S4 is good in its own way) and ESPECIALLY the music - it’s amazing. I’ve rewatched AoT a few times and each time it makes me appreciate the music a lot more - the subtle background music that plays in certain scenes especially the orchestra version of “Barricades” and “theDogs” are my favorite.

Jon

I would highly suggest watching “Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress” - in terms of action, music, and visuals, it’s VERY similar to AoT/Attack on Titan. Idk if anyone suggested it, but it’s also made by the same studio who animated season 1-3 of AoT - Wit Studio. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is VERY similar to AoT - apocalyptic world with zombies, each city is walled off, etc. Check it out!!

Rex Tan

Just another insight from rewatching the series with you guys - when Hange died burning and you see the crew crying, you kinda see Armin bawling like a p*ssy, and then you start to realize that technically he also "died" the same way and 100% knows how it felt being burned alive.

Marco Gutierrez

Seriously. The Sub elitism has been carried on for far too long. All I ever see is the same tired arguments. If people actually "prefer" listening to something in a language they have no clue about, that's all well and good. It's when they act like it's objectively better and that they're better than you for doing so when I put my foot down and have to shame them. Dubs have been just as good as the original language, if not better, for a couple decades now.

Marco Gutierrez

It always made perfect sense to me. He was raging against a world that wanted him and his people dead, and he was free to do so. No matter what people say, the world *DOES* want the Eldians dead, unless they can be of more use in some other way like slave labor. Sure they make a big stink about the island devils, but their sentiment applies to all of the Eldians. That's why every place we hear about, they're in internement zones. Annie's father even confirms, after the initial vision of Eren talking about the rumbling, that there are internment zones ALL over the world. It isn't just a Marley thing, everyone treats Eldians as sub-human. And ultimately the entire world declared war on Paradis at Willy Tybur's summit in Liberio. Eren was angry at the way his people were treated, but he was also angry that the world he was promised was not a world of discovery and adventure and freedom, but a world filled with people that hated him for absolutely no good reason. So he decided to fight back against that world as was his right and he decided that if his friends couldn't handle that, then they're free to fight him to defend others too. He isn't going to force them to bend the knee to him. To me, this has always been perfectly consistent with his character and it's also perfectly justified as a punishment for this world that thrived on hatred and evil.

Marco Gutierrez

There's no genocide plan though. I couldn't care less if Hange wants to use words that she doesn't know the meaning of, there's no genocide here except Eldian genocide.

Marco Gutierrez

Except this isn't genocide. This is war, and Eren isn't targeting any particular "race" of people or ethnicity for the purpose of exterminating them. That's what genocide means. What he's doing is targeting a group of people who declared war on him, aka the world, and taking their challenge. They declared war and said that him and his people should never have existed, and he fought back. You're literally angry at a bunch of Jews fighting back against the Nazi party here. Doesn't matter if you claim to be a civilian or military, a Nazi is a Nazi.

Marco Gutierrez

Too bad it isn't genocide. I'll keep going up and down this comment section pushing back on this. You can disagree with the decision, but calling something genocide simply because you disagree with it does not change the definition of the word.

Marco Gutierrez

Quinn, you can't even IMAGINE the pain of how long of a wait that half a year felt between the first part of the end and the second part. Especially when sometimes news was so scarce of when the English version would be released. To answer your question though, I was always with Eren. It's crazy to me how people could ever see that this wasn't what he would do or that he wasn't entirely justified in his actions. People cry about genocide this and that, but wanna know where the REAL genocide happened? It happened in episode 1 when Marley breached the walls and decided to slowly kill off the people of Paradis for no other reason than they were the ancestors of an ethnic group that they didn't like. That's literal genocide. Eren is simply fighting back against a world that declared war on him and his people. They didn't care about the civilians, they didn't care about the "innocent" lives, they didn't care that these people were being peaceful and keeping to themselves without causing any problems for them. No, they wanted them dead for no other reason than their ethnic grouping and people have the GALL to get mad at Eren for fighting back? These people had heard all about how Paradis had this super powerful weapon that they would use against the world if the world decided to mess with them, and what do they do? They decide to poke the rattlesnake and then get mad when they get bit.

Isabel Schertel

I agree! I just didn't see it that way until the very last episode and everything was explained. Gosh he's such an amazing character

Joaquin garcia

fkin Eren killed Hangue 😭

George Katsifolis

When will you react to the last episode?

Elijah

the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group. "a campaign of genocide" Might want to check up on your own definitons?

Andrea Hernandez

Saludos desde el mejor país de Chile XD Ahh I need to release it in Spanish before I start thinking in English XD I can't believe that despite the time I still cry watching these scenes and that it is still impossible for me to listen to Bauklötze or Red Swan, with the weight and significance they carry.... Love u Hange! Great reaction as always.

Sean Carroll

The fact that you’ve reduced all the complexities of this story/message down to what you just said is simply dumbfounding. You’re not very smart

Marco Gutierrez

Sorry, I don't speak logical fallacy. Come back when you have something intelligent to say. Or are you too busy yelling at Badd Medicine to not react to the end credits scene to avoid spoilers?

Jonah Bertorelli

I gotta agree with Sean, Marco. I can't get into the real reasons why you're wrong without spoiling the ending, but I'll say the entire message from this show from episode one to the finale is "an eye for an eye never stops, and if you don't stop the killing, it will never stop." So, saying "genocide is justified because the person causing genocide had their people genocide-ed first" is EXACTLY what you just said was SO ridiculous about paradis being brutalized because of past genocide. You can't just pick the link of the chain of genocide you like and support that one only because the story you watched followed the people in that window of the whole story. So, I have to say, your take is incredibly hypocritical. And completely contradicts itself. As Sean said, it's such a surface level take. It's crazy to me that you think you can justify one genocide being okay, while another isn't while simultaneously can't comprehend how people stand on the hill of "all genocide is bad no matter when or how it started". Honestly very telling.

Marco Gutierrez

Except that isn't what I said at all. You should really learn to read and comprehend what you read instead of projecting onto me. At no point did I say that genocide was right. I clarified where the REAL genocide occurred because, contrary to popular belief, the rumbling ISN'T genocide. We truly have a reading comprehension problem in this modern world because people throw words around without knowing their definition. Genocide MEANS the mass killing of people due to their ethnic group or racial background. You know, like how the whole world says Eldians, and the Eldians of Paradis in particular, need to be exterminated? That's genocidal ideology. The breaching of the walls to facilitate the extermination of the Paradisans is an ACT of genocide. At which point did Eren say "man Marley is the worst, let's kill everyone from there for no other reason than they come form there"? Please point that one out to me and I'll retract my statements. Cause the fact of the matter is he DIDN'T say that at all. In fact, he doesn't say that about anyone! What he does say is "those people want to exterminate myself and my people, and in order to survive we have to fight them". Because make no mistake they DO want to exterminate them. We see constantly time and time again that both the military and the civilians hate and want to exterminate the "island devils" of Paradis. Even the Azumabito don't actually care about them, they have internment zones in their country too. They only partnered with the Paradisans because they wanted to get to the natural resources on the island so they can get rich. The simple fact of the matter is that the WORLD declared war on Eren and the Paradisans. Eren fought back, and then they got mad that they lost. This would be no different than Jews escaping a camp in WW2 and then seizing German weaponry to lay waste to the whole country who is trying to exterminate them. It isn't genocide, it's literal self defense. And for the record, I don't agree with Eren's actions. There's a number of things I would have done differently, but what I won't do is condemn someone for enacting some sloppy self defense. You people really need to learn to read if your takeaway from what I said was "here's why genocide is a good thing!" Absolutely brain dead takeaway.

AoT's Dub is really good. And yea, if you're looking for the subtle details in the background, dub is probably awesome for a rewatch. Would totally watch yall watch this again. I've watched it so many times myself haha

Carlos Munguia

So, to answer your question at the end of the reaction, the show actually revealed a lot of hypocrisy in the fanbase. Some people actually stayed jeagerists all the way to the end. The show quite literally split so many people

Buschi

Marco, with all due respect you are in the wrong... I cant believe somebody has seen Gabis entire story arc and still decides to act just like her at the beginning of season 4.. Justifying terrible acts by any means possible rather than adjusting their own perspective. Gabi got that realization eventually, I hope you do too!

Marco Gutierrez

Nope, not acting like Gabi. Gabi was indoctrinated to think that these island devils were evil and wanted her killed. Eren wasn't indoctrinated to believe it, he SAW that this was true. He tried various avenues and options to avoid this but these people have only one goal: for them to die. Here, let's look at their goals. What do the Paradisans want in order to be happy? They want to live long and happy lives and be part of the world that they were ignorant of until recent times. Seems pretty benign. So what does the world want in order to be happy? To exterminate the island devils and take their natural resources. Daaaamn, gee I wonder which one of these is in the wrong. They literally ONLY changed their minds when they saw that the island devils, aka Eren, was fighting back harder than they could. They pulled a Japan in WW2.

i always had assumed the king also hardened the ground afew meters below the titans, similar to the wall shape forming around them, the 60m tall wall titans is just a theory and has never been confirmed, people just assume the titans are about 60m tall because of the miners tale with a miner digging down and encountering wall. We also dont seem to see 10m deep trenches when the titans awoke, nor do we see them stepping up, so it could go either way.

Jonah Bertorelli

You seriously think that because one was an ethnic cleansing, and one was "morally justified revenge" in your mind; that Eren was justified killing nations and millions of innocents that had NOTHING to do with the marlyan army is just ignorance beyond comprehension. The hate toward the "island devils" was based in revenge too. Just like Erens revenge. No different. The reasons why innocent people are slaughtered for "revenge" is irrelevant. I'll reiterate, the fact that you can sit and try to split these hairs says a LOT about your person and your moral lens than it does anything else. And the fact that this is your takeaway from the broader lessons in the story shows your comprehension skills are surface level, and this show is the Mariana trench.

Jonah Bertorelli

Nobody cares about your definition needing "ethnic clensing" to be a factor to be considered genocide. Yes, it may fit the "DeFiNiTiOn" better for your level of comprehension but let me just let you in on a little secret..... Killing the ENTIRE WORLD because one nation's army killed your mom is ALSO FUCKING GENOCIDE you illiterate rat lmao. He is killing off entire species of animals, races and religions, nations, entirety of EXSISTANCE. The people who died in the walls are a drop in the bucket of the bigger picture. One is not worse than the other, they are both deplorable. So the fact that you can "understand" why Eren did it is reprehensible and repulsive. He's killing off the existence of the human race to protect his dozen friends. That's not "self defence" especially when there was a clear plan for self defense laid out and ready to be used. Self-defense is when you push someone off you, or hit back. Not when you stomp on their unconscious head for 4 minutes straight and then attack their family unprovoked. Get a grip. Again, I wish I could explain why you're sSOOOOOOO much more wrong but I can't without spoiling the end. So I'll leave you with only being half corrected.

Marco Gutierrez

Wow, stay mad. You continue to keep ignoring what I'm saying and project your own beliefs and insecurities onto me. I never said Eren was justified in starting the Rumbling. I've merely been pushing back against all the bleeding hearts clutching their pearls acting like the Nazis getting nuked, which is the literal real world equivalent to this, is such a terrible thing. You guys can keep crying about the fact that an entire group of people who declared war ended up losing that war.

Rainy Days

I'm a bit confused. You said all the other comments I noticed from you, esp. the back and forth about genocide with Marcos comments, yet you say "RIP Floch"?

Rainy Days

I could be wrong, but wasn't Draco a bit older than Eren in his 6th year vs. Eren when he started The Rumbling?

CT

@Rainydays Someone missed the point of the show.

Bambina

Today’s the day

Jon

there’s a lot of good ones but I’d have to choose Naruto! I grew up with it watching on TV back in the day My overall top 3 animated shows would have to be 1. Avatar: The Last Airbender 2/3. AoT /Naruto What about you?

Chrisiyyi

dont worry Marco, i do think they misunderstand what you said

Chrisiyyi

You are correct Marco, he is not by textbook commiting genocide, what Eren does is extermination or doing 'totalitarian annihilation'

Chrisiyyi

We all know that what both groups do is bad and i do not read what you write as "x side is correct" at all. I agree that alot of people are picking sides when in reality there is no side that is correct, both sides are wrong, obviously Eren is doing it on a way bigger scale but that doesnt justify what the other side did either, ofcourse cannot say or eleborate alot more without spoiling the ending either (they finished alr but maybe new watchers read here so dont wanna post here)

Chrisiyyi

i wouldnt say that is valid to devalue the score of a series or movies, but i do see what you are trying to say, its annoying to wait but sadly there is no other way unless you wait yourself to have all released and watch it in 1 go.

Makayla Paige

I’m sorry the dub haters have been so annoying! the sub is better of course but the Dub is not bad! I’ve watched the show in both dub and sub multiple times and switching up is a great way to do a rewatch!

Ralph Henderson

I absolutely love the idea of a dub rewatch think you guys would definitely notice a lot of little details on that second watch

C Nichole

Eren has been my favorite character the entire series. It's crazy to me that so many people can't recognize the moments that Eren's humanity and desperation had shown through ........it tends to get disregarded.

C Nichole

Glad you didn't stoop to these people's level and reply with ignorant name calling over a damn anime. I agree with you Marco. Eren has actually been my fave character the entire series simply because of how complex his story is. Most people that say Eren is wrong have a flawed ideology because according to their logic it would be black people should continue to kill white people for generations to come because of what their ancestors did with slavery, Jewish people should continue to kill Germans for generations because of the Holocaust, etc. (These are simple examples for many more complexities and details that should be added of course, but for the intent of an example this is what I am using).

Aggiiee

idk if you guys noticed, but the old couple that was left in the cell when the rumbling was approaching was Eren's and Zeke's grandparents
