Alyssa Dyson

This movie is a good time 💜 happy to watch it again with you guys!

Quilva

Love this movie, it was so well done. Will have to watch this one tomorrow for sure! Thank you guys

Alanna Banana 🍌

Watching this now. I voted for this one cause I love this movie. 💜

Jeff K

PSA for viewers: while the guys watched this on Prime for a fee, it's free on Hulu and Disney+.

Gregory Sambrano

I’m not gonna lie I was worried oak wouldn’t like it but in so happy and can’t wait to watch the reaction when I get off work

Cass&Jason

If you want pure comedy horror, try Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. Massively underrated and hilarious.

Megan

Can't wait to watch this when I get home. I love Samara Weaving (since I first saw her in this) and recommend you watch The Babysitter with her in it as well! It's also a comedy-horror on Netflix. Not sure if you all touched on this, but her uncle is Hugo Weaving aka Elrond from LOTR! Also another movie that gives similar vibes as this is "You're Next." Not sure if it has anyone related who worked on the movie, I just know when the trailer came out for Ready or Not, I thought it was the same director or storywriter.

Liam

I like when you guys have different opinions haha

NS

I love this movie. I find it so funny and entertaining.

Adrianna Marie Aka AD

This movie is so fun and I love Grace's absolute feral scream at the end 😂😂

itsvic

Loveeee this moviee🤩

Olive_Sandy

I love this film. Makes me laugh every time I watch. Glad Oak saw the film for what it was ☺️

Sophia Sanchez

Horror comedies are the best! So glad y'all enjoyed it - and Oak, I'm completely on the same page as you. Some other good horror comedies are "What We Do In The Shadows", "Re-Animator", and "One Cut of the Dead"!

Alanna Banana 🍌

From Wikipedia: “In March 2024, it was reported that a sequel was in development with Adam Robitel in early negotiations to serve as director; Samara Weaving is expected to reprise her starring role. By September of the same year, Weaving confirmed ongoing discussions for her to reprise the lead role in a sequel.” I didn’t know about this until now. I’m excited

Alanna Banana 🍌

I know you guys are going to watch Abigail which is another horror-comedy but another one I’d love to recommend is Freaky. A bit of a sleeper hit during COVID times.

NS

I think it was intentionally funny. It’s categorized as Horror/Comedy. Being over the top was the point 😆

Jeff K

Oh, it's for sure intentionally funny. There are a ton of very deliberate comedy beats in this movie. This was actually only the second time I've watched it, but I enjoyed it just as much this time as the first time.

Jeff K

Same! I love all of the guys but I've always related most closely to Oak, so his response to this film aligning with mine makes a ton of sense.

Paul Yu

I loved this movie, I thought it was a lot fun 🤪. I thought the overacting was intentional which is where the comedy was intended. The aunt and sister always cracked me up.

Rob OnlyRoss

loved this film 😅

Monica

You guys probably don't remember Samara as the opening girl in Scream 6.

Rob OnlyRoss

it is and abigail is even better , i think quin will enjoy that one 😆👌🏼

Boy blue

This movie is like the definition of camp 😭 I love it

Ivan Rasmussen

Man really bummed Quinn didn't like it! I'm with Oak, I thought this was brilliant. The whole twist with the curse, all of the characters in this were so fun on screen and you could tell they were having a good time. I also thought Samara absolutely crushed it in this movie. One of my new favorite horror films :D

Alanna Banana 🍌

Was this your first time watching it? If so, I’m in a similar circumstance. It’s only my second time watching it. First time was early this year and I loved it too.

Jerry Pocketz

Ngl it wasn’t as good as i remember it being but it was still fun watching it w the boys 💪

LeeLeeS

Loved this movie. Saw it in theaters and it was a fun experience. Right before the pandemic hit I had a run where everything I saw in theaters was great. This one, Invisible Man and Knives Out

jvs

It's funny how Mason Quinn says he thought Oak wasn't enjoying the movie and he ended up loving it when Quinn looked like he had a great time and ended up saying the opposite xD he did the same with the last planet of the apes movie hahaha, Quinn is becoming so unpredictable xD

shaneth138

How could you possibly think the comedy was unintentional? It was 100% intentional. The tone was comedic right from the start. Just because you expected something different doesn't mean it was bad. They accomplished exactly what they went for.

shaneth138

Also Dave would have definitely liked this movie. Feel like Mason Quinn completely misinterpreted the tone or something and assumes Dave would've saw what he saw.

ParkMinJeon

That’s exactly how I felt! The first time I watched it I loved it. The second time I watched it , I was like this isn’t as good as it was the first time. This is my third time watching it , and I really enjoyed it again lol watching it with them.

Bloop

its not that serious man let them have their opinions

Ari

Im surprised Mason Quinn didn’t like this! I was pleasantly surprised the first time I seen it. Very entertaining and a fun watch.

Eric Wallace

It's just pure fun. Not serious, comedy take on stereotypical genre

shaneth138

You act like I said something harsh. My comment was super mild and you’re acting like I went crazy lol. Also this is a comment section. Idk if you know how they work, but it’s a place where patrons get to voice their opinions as well. Wild concept I know.

Stacy Lymber

I LOVE Freaky! Not enough reactors choose it. Agree, that it gets overlooked because it was released straight to stream during Covid. Really hope these guys watch it someday soon!

JenVonLee

Super confusing reaction from Quinn lol. Laughs and cheers his way through the movie then says its not very good.. talk about mixed messages my dude! haha. Its billed as a horror comedy, so not sure why there was uncertainty about its comedy elements either. I thought this one was a bloody good time... and I'm a horror collector.

Chavelle

The humor and comedy was intentional. You can tell with the facial expressions through out characters in the movie. Also how the aunt is acting over the top theatrical is supposed to add to the satire. Loved watching it with you guys!

Alanna Banana 🍌

Honestly MQ might be having his own “controversy” Oak Spirited Away moment with this one 😂 we expect your apology on Wednesday at the latest Quinn 😆

J Knight

Horror is better when it's funny, intentional or not 🤣

What I think really made this work as a black comedy, and work in a way that a lot of other films can’t, is that there were no “funny” scenes with Grace mixed in with the “serious” scenes. The scenes were all the same, but what changed was our perspective. A lot of the events are funny to us -- the audience -- as we see the le Domas family bumble around and be generally incompetent, but to Grace they’re all horrifying. She’s never laughing at their stupidity or enjoying any part of it. The movie never tried to make Grace “in on the joke”. For example, the very first kill of the night is when Emilie, the coked-out spoiled screw-up, accidentally shoots Clara the maid. To the audience the situation is hilarious as the le Domas family comes in one by one to see what’s going on. The way they’re annoyed and several of them refer to Clara as their favorite maid, the way they lambaste Emilie for mistaking the sexy maid in the tight black dress with the bride in a giant white wedding dress. It’s downright comical and serves to highlight that the le Domas family dynamic is extremely messed up even beyond their attempts to murder people. But to Grace, the entire thing is terrifying as fuck. She just saw somebody get murdered. She doesn’t laugh or smirk as she sees Emilie start to cry, or make a “spoiled rich girl” quip at the way her father comforts her in the manner of a petulant child who accidentally broke something fragile. Regardless of what else is happening, this is when she realizes that things are seriously fucked up. Later we see Fitch in the bathroom watching how-to videos on YouTube trying to figure out how to use his crossbow, and then googling whether or not deals with the devil are real. This is when Grace sneaks out an upstairs window and jumps to the ground outside to make her escape. In some other movie we would see her slowly crawl down the wall and look in the window from the outside, with a glance to the camera and some sort of condescending remark about how stupid Fitch is. But she doesn’t do that, she just leaps and doesn’t even know that Fitch is ever in that bathroom because she’s being hunted for her life and doesn’t have time to make witty comments. We can view this as comedy, but she can’t. This meant that there was never any disjointed or out-of-sync tonal shifts. The comedic scenes are comedic because of their placement in her ‘serious’ story, and they’re only comedic to us. It’s never slapstick or with goofy sound effects. Since Grace spent the whole movie terrified we spent the whole movie terrified for her, so we never lost the threat or terror of the “black” part of “black comedy”. So it made a movie that is simultaneously suspenseful and funny, without ever sacrificing one for the other.

JBK405

Oh, and for another Adam Brody movie, I HEAVILY recommend "The Kid Detective" from 2020. It's never going to win a poll since almost nobody has ever heard of it, but I think you lot would LOVE it.

zimy__

Im kinda with mason quinn on this one, idk maybe i just dont like horror comedies (apart from shaun of the dead) because they’re neither hilarious nor creepy. But I thought this was better than abigail which was terrible (cant wait for quinn to see that one) 😂 probably give this a 5/10
