as a current combat medic in the army, this has got to be one of my favorite episodes of television EVER. It’s an exhaustion like no other and truly is a never ending job.

I know I'm a little late but I'm commenting anyway!! Nothing like spending a day off catching up with my favorite reactors to my favorite series!! This episode is special to me, here's why…. On my first watch, my cousin successfully “stonewalled me” all the way until I finally caught Shane Taylors IMPECCABLE ACCENT in this episode!!!! He only has a few lines before this so I gave myself a break. I'm not sure anyone else got as excited about anything in Band of Brothers like I did when I found out not only did the 101st have a REAL bayou boy but, he was also a MEDIC Yep the real Eugene “Doc” Roe was from Louisiana, just like me (and my cousin)!! Never in a million years did I imagine I would hear the word “traiteur” on Band of Brothers but, there ya go It's special because I have a core memory from when I was 5 years old of a “traiteur” coming to my grandma's house to pray over my 94 year old great great grandmother, Clarice who never ONCE stepped inside a doctors office nor any other medical facility in her entire LIFE… not even when she birthed her children or to see her grandchildren and great great children being born. Maybe she was just a tad bit stubborn lol. I heard Shane Taylor (who is actually British) in an interview talk about how he worked with a voice coach for 6 MONTHS on the accent and even took a trip to Louisiana before filming just to get a better “feel” of the place. Now that's commintment to a role right there. And it shows…. or is heard. Just another example of how every aspect of this series is top notch top to bottom. Period.

Yes, this episode was one that made me sob. My sister is a Navy Nurse, and just seeing the brutality of war and all of the grave scenarios that combat medics are called to face because of their profession, constantly giving 100% to try to save people's lives, is so humbling and inspiring. After Renee died, I immediately texted my sister about how grateful I am for her sacrificial, selfless service.
