Same, she was one of my favorites from once upon a time, the chemistry between her and her husband Josh was unparalleled. But Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin was absolutely the goat in that show lol.

Dont' feel bad about the 4.7 Dave. That is plenty generous. This movie is a 4.0 at best for me. Really solid but nowhere near some of the best animated films. I don't think 5's should be thrown around so easily. Not that it matters but if I am rating anything a perfect score, it's gotta be like next level special.

Zootopia isn't a favorite of mine, or an animation I consider one of the "greats", but it's still such a good one. So enjoyable with a really engaging story and the music is so fun. I just enjoy it so much despite not being in my top 10. One of Disney's better, more recent, animations though.

I think there are a couple of key things in Zootopia that make the movie hit home. The fact that Gideon Gray apologized to Judy the moment he saw her was a full circle, and then Judy apologized to Nick the moment she saw him again, which is another full circle.

Yeah I definitely don't think this one is all that big a deal or anything. It's a solid 3/5 for me. The biggest problem is the major plot hole of the film regarding the flowers. These are a known flower that exists in this world, it has a nickname and all that, and yet no hospital anywhere connected the symptoms? Nobody bothered to say "hey, these guys are exhibiting symptoms that are synonymous with exposure to this pretty famous flower. We should try the antidote for it." I know people are going to call this nitpicking, but it really isn't. It's an incredibly obvious thing that stands out once you put a moment of thought into it. The movie as a whole is still good, it just should have been written with the animals being poisoned with a new and synthetic thing, not these flowers that is common knowledge.

Ha don't we all kind of have our own rating system? Also I use letterboxed so I am mostly talking about that for myself personally. I'm just saying, if any of us actually rate anything, just giving anything a perfect score makes the rating system meaningless, does it not? Zootopia is a middle of the road animated film. You might as well ditch the ratings if you're giving movies like this a 5. It's not a big deal, I don't really care. The point of my comment was to tell Dave to not feel bad giving it a 4.7.

Zootopia? You got me subscribing so quick lol I find it interesting that we didn't see any primates in the film. we also really only saw one city + a rural bunny village, so I am really curious about the world building

This movie is amazing. top 5 for me. The dynamic between Nick and Judy is truly one of the best i've ever scene☺And Nick's character man. His dry humor and sarcasm fits so well and well written. Tied together with Judy's bright personality and bantering with Nick makes them work so well. The animation is so detailed and so great 💚They spent years of making individual furs on the animals. That's why it looks soo realistic and clear. They spent 18 months researching on animals and went around the world to get first hand experiance. The work it took to make this was so awesome and it paid off well making 1.2 billion dollars. As they should. Can't wait for the 2nd movie! 😁

It is nitpicking, though. The flowers were used in a highly concentrated form that had never been seen before (according to the distillation setup, it appears at least 1000x so). It's reasonable to assume the symptoms are way worse or even new additional symptoms appeared at that high concentration, and the doctors researching the savage animals wrote off Night Howlers because "symptoms from exposure to those flowers only lasts a few hours." Remember it had only been about 2 weeks since the first mammal "went missing". Medicine is very complicated, and if random people just started attacking other people and they were too out of their minds to be questioned, and we'dhave to knock them out to be able to do something as simple as drawing blood, it would probably take weeks for us to figure out what was going on too. Additionally, it is implied at the end they had to *create* an antidote (it was "proving effective"), not that one already existed.

Agreed. 4.7 is a high score. I use letterboxed as well and everyone’s ratings all mean something different. There’s no universal rating system tbf. A 5 to someone is not a 5 to someone else, it’s all subjective. Personally I rarely give out 5s and some of my 5 ratings are more personal reasons if anything

That's not the implication I got at all. The news said that the night howler antidote was proving effective. If we heard the news say that the rattlesnake antivenom was proving effective at curing something, we wouldn't assume that it was some new thing that they created, we know that rattlesnake antivenom exists. On top of that, yes the night howler symptoms are known to only persist for a few hours, but they're still the same symptoms so it's natural that they would follow along that track. For example, if someone was exhibiting symptoms of hydrophobia, one of the things that doctors would guarantee check for is rabies. Rabies cases aren't that common either but it's such a well known symptom that doctors would immediately look down that road. In addition, we see the solution that gets made from this and we see how it's delivered. It's fired and bursts out of the capsule on the target. That means there's a pretty sizable splash zone of indigo goop on each animal that was targeted, and over time it would just dry up. They'd have samples of it dried on each of those animals, whether on fur or on clothes. I mean hell, they picked Machas up in like 15 minutes after being hit. They likely had him in the facility within the hour. That goop was 100% still on him. It isn't a deal breaker for the movie by any means, it's just a hallmark of the terribly writing that has slowly infected the entertainment industry over time.

Inside Out, Coco, Up are 5s for me, and I actually have Soul as a 5 as well. A lot of people are luke warm on Soul but I think it requires several viewings to truly appreciate how good that movie is. Up, Moana, Wreck It Ralph, Wall-E, Inside Out 2, and all of the Toy Story movies I have as 4.5’s or above. How about you? What are your 5 rated Disney/Pixar animated movies?
