I thought this movie was dumb! It's supposed to be a 'Day 1' yet it could of just been the 3rd installment and you wouldn't know any different. You don't learn anything new about the creatures or why/how it happened, the day one thing feels void.

Berry Ferreira

Could you please consider the night agent on Netflix

Simon

Loved this film. PS: PLEASE do the new Beverly Hills Cop movie!

Verity

I loved seeing this film in the cinema! Lupita is an amazing actress, she and Joseph did so much with just their eyes.

Kyle Style

you guys should watch the movie Passengers! One of my favs!

Emily G

Can’t wait to watch this! You guys should check out Practical Magic or Into The Woods for October 🎃❤️

This movie is what got me into the Quiet Place series; i know it must’ve been disappointing to not have it be about tje aliens, but i did truly love this as my introduction into this world

Rich

*POTENTIAL SPOILER* Had to Google if the cat survived before I watch this lol.

Verity

Yeah, personally I don't mind if they didn't do anything new with the aliens (which I actually thought they did). The human characters are the reason why I love this series <3 I really enjoyed the bond between Sam and Eric who seem like an unlikely friendship but end up trusting each other so much.

slavicandsapphic

I also thought they did but people expected more which is fair considering the movie is called ‘Day One’ however like you said, the humans are why I watch! Sam and Eric were so sweet, truly felt like platonic soulmates 🥹

Verity

All the times they try to comfort each other 🥺🥺

Money-Kate Olsen

There's a bit that got cut out of the movie which adds depth to Joseph's character: in a deleted scene, Eric reveals that he's gay and was contemplating suicide before the creatures show up. This also might be why he refused to stop following Sam and provides a contrast between the characters: Sam is dying and wants to live; Eric is living and wants to die.

I'm Batman

It was good I enjoyed it, not as much as the first one but it still had my heart rate through the roof, especially for Frodo lol. I'm gonna recommend this movie until either I get told y'all won't watch it, or y'all will put it on the list, or I die, or the channel ends, but y'all should check out Tim Burtons Sleepy Hollow lol.

Fajar Kurniawan

I still want to see the big battle of human vs aliens

Brooksie

I watched this film in IMAX and it was a great experience. I do agree that it does drag in places and there could have been more info about the aliens/military, but it was a great watch overall 😄

Katie

There was no CGI used for the cat actually. And fun fact Lupita was afraid of cats and went through cat therapy to prepare for the movie and ended up adopting a cat after filming.

Lauren

I love this franchise because, to me, the monsters are secondary to the human characters. The daughter’s character growth in 1, the son’s growth in 2, and Sam’s/Eric’s story in this one. Sam didn’t want to survive - she wanted to live fully one last time by remembering her father. If I can get invested into a character, I feel the movie does a good job. I do understand wanting to learn more about the lore and continue the alien story, so I get that critique.

e

I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS

tom

this franchise is not the kind to give you "new information" on the aliens. it's not an anime or marvel kind of thing. it's taking this world that we're familiar with and using it as a backdrop for a character driven human story. the first movie was about parenthood, the second movie was about growing up, and this movie is about dealing with death. once you understand it through that lens you can understand them a little better.

Chavelle

Gret review. I think they did not focus as much on the military because realistically, the military would have been cut down and killed quickly. If you think about all the artillery making noise, and bombs. I would love if they did another one but in washington dc to really see the military response!

Basquiat

Feels void if you don’t get that the quiet place franchise centers humanity

Chavelle

Also, this might be a hot take but I do feel like we learned a little more on their invasion/about them. They do not eat humans but only kill them for their own food source. The pools of pink liquid are actually bodies of humans terraforming. the death angels are terraforming with organism materiel of human remains. Also, I feel as though we did not learn that much about the death angels because this movie was meant to be more about humanity than fighting action. On Day 1 realistically you arent going to know much about them or their purpose.

Jessie

Watching this for the first time with yall. I think a lot of people may miss the point of these movies. The Quiet Place movies are as much about monsters as The Walking Dead is about zombies. They aren't concerned with fleshing out the biology or backstory of the monsters. Oak touched on this a bit— these are stories about people, and there happens to be monsters. I think a lot of disappointment comes when people come in expecting a monster movie. Looking forward to District 9 with yall ✌️

Chavelle

thats the funny thing! in the first seasons, the walking dead was about surving the zombies, but then as the show went on, it was about humanity and surving other humans. I think this movie is mimicking that sentiment and i love that. Action is all fun but this franchise is really more about how humans live and interact with one another during a invasion, rather than humans vs aliens

Jessie

yeah, totally agree. I remember John Krasinski and Emily Blunt described the first movie as "a love letter to our kids". If the movies became about the monsters and learning about their alien origins, I think the franchise would lose its heart.

Jessie

Well said, Tom. The movies were never about the aliens.

Chavelle

100%. i think it would be more of a sellout to the action fight scene lovers. its not bad, but i really appreciate thriller movies that focus on the story than a quick money grab

Basquiat

Your own interpretation of what “day one” means may be the problem bud. It’s called day one because it features characters who experienced the alien invasion on the initial day it occurred , what’s not clicking???

Katie

It’s not about the aliens, there just happens to be aliens in the movie. It’s about the humans

Samantha Pearce

Surprised at the scores, I thought this was a great story and it’s day one not sure why you expected to know more about the aliens on the first day that they arrived compared to the first two films years later. It’s the first day no one knows anything about them yet. Lol Especially since we learn their biggest weakness already not sure what else we were going to learn except what they eat which was included. This also connected us with the characters making it to the island and how they got there but honestly the story was really good in my opinion. I think if we would’ve got the military perspective it would’ve been a let down because we would be expecting them to, as you stated, just use the helicopter to kill them all because we know what weaponry they have. Now the next one (if we get one) may be military based because we can now go back to after the second film and use their weaknesses against them on a broader scale but the focus is the people and how they would handle the different circumstances they are in. I echo other comments when they compare it to the walking dead, eventually you realize it’s the people and how they survive that makes the story. The aliens are the elements that makes how they survive worth watching.

Tyree

It’s not actually about the Aliens. Just like The Walking Dead isn’t really about the zombies. It’s about how people respond to an apocalyptic situation. It’s about the people.

Bri

I actually agree with the 3's. I just watched this 2 weeks ago, and didn't wanna rewatch so I skipped to the review at the end to hear y'alls thoughts. I'd give the first movie 5 answers, the second one maybe a 4, and this one a 3. I'm not opposed to a dark ending, especially as a fan of horror, but this ending just made me ask why? Why go back and make a prequel about a main character who dies at the end? It feels like a one-shot story, disconnected from the other two, which can be fine, but it didn't feel like it added to the universe. Had she lived, there could have been potential of a crossover in another movie in the present, and maybe they'll do that with the dude and the cat. I don't know if they're planning on continuing or not. I just don't understand the purpose as it's very self-contained and doesn't feel like it adds anything to the other two, which I typically expect from prequels.

J Knight

I gave it even less honestly. Didn't care about the characters or story AT all tbh

Bri

I feel you. I don't know if I just got bored and zoned out but I had forgotten the hospice thing until the end when I realized she wasn't getting on the boat. And I only remembered that from reading the name on the bus at the beginning of the movie. I wasn't mad at their dynamic, but I expected more from it. I agree on the story aspect.

MateoP

This movie is a 6-7/10 not a bad movie but the first and second were better the characters are not it 😭 whoever is surprised at the score should look at the audience score of 70% and the 6.0 on IMDb 🤣

Andrew

The film's director, Michael Sarnoski, directed a film called "Pig" a couple years ago starring Nicolas Cage, who gives one of his best performances. It is definitely worth checking out. Sarnoski definitely wanted the scenes between the characters to breathe, similar to what he did in "Pig."

Jake G.

I really enjoyed this one. Probably really benefited from knowing the basis of the plot before I watched though as I didn't go in with the same expectation as the gents.
