The first half of this movie is nothing less than a second degree torture

Awesome reaction.

Let's goooo!!! This will be the first time I'm watching your reaction to an Indian movie without having previously seen the movie! I hope it's a good one (so far I've seen mostly positive reviews) 😁

Yuji itadori

Please consider watching “Kill” Indian movie. It’s pure action movie and it’s getting remade in Hollywood.

I'm Batman

Okay this being my 2nd Indian actionish movie it's becoming my favorite genre. Absolutely loved this film!

Aria Isara

I love seeing newbies' enthusiasm 😁 what was the 1st one? Did you start watching them because of Badd Medicine?

I'm Batman

Jawan was my first Indian movie, I like to give every movie a chance and was interested in checking it out. Glad I gave it a chance cause it was such a blast, just like this one. And yeah it was because of Badd Medicine that I gave it a chance, many times now I've watched movies because of them without having seen them before because of how they're willing to give any genre a chance. That and nowadays Hollywood really hasn't been putting out much movies I'm interested in so I thought I'd give Bollywood (sorry if that's not what these are) a chance.

I am not Indian but in Africa we watch a lot of Indian movies, and i Have to say the guy playing the giant Amitabh Bachchan is one of the biggest Bollywood actors of all time, he has been doing this since the 70s.

I got tired with Hollywood too (I'm French) hence why I got a lot more into Indian movies after seeing a few by chance. These days I try catching up a bit on Hollywood though, mostly using the guys' reactions too. Bollywood = Hindi speaking movies (spoken in parts of north India). Telugu speaking is called Tollywood or mostly just Telugu movies (spoken in 2 regions of south India). I consider Kalki to be Telugu because the director is Telugu as well as Prabhas, but it was shot bilingual Hindi & Telugu and it's kind of a pan-Indian movie, which is a recent trend, meaning that they have actors from different regions. Deepika (who plays Sumathi) for example works mostly in the Hindi industry and doesn't have a good Telugu accent so even though she shot her scenes saying the dialogues in Telugu she later got dubbed by another actress. The reverse happened with Prabhas, his Hindi accent isn't great so he got dubbed in that version. Most of the secondary actors are well known actors from all over the country, from the Tamil industry ("Kollywood"), Malayalam industry ("Mollywood") etc. Some didn't need to get dubbed like Anna Ben who played the rebel Kyra, but others had to be dubbed. You should definitely go back and watch the other Indian movies Badd Medicine reacted to before Jawan! There is the action trilogy Kaithi - Vikram - Leo, the 2 parter KGF and more recently Salaar by the same director (very stylized action, with the same lead as Kalki), the medieval epic Baahubali (2 parts, also with Prabhas) and the period action epic RRR by the same director (who actually had a fun cameo in Kalki)... And in different genres the guys also reacted to the comedy 3 Idiots, the comedy drama Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the period drama/biopic Sardar Udham. However some of these might not have a full version on Patreon if they are from early on the channel 😩 Also if you ever want some recommendations I can give you some 😁

A bit late with my comment but it was super nice discovering this movie with you! I enjoyed it too, definitely didn't feel the length. Like Oak it's not my fav and I like Jawan more too but it's a well done movie for sure. The set designs are impressive and I like how "full" the world building felt.  This movie has SO MANY famous actors in secondary roles, it's too bad you guys don't know them 😭 As you keep watching more Indian movies you'll know more and more actors and it will only be more fun for you as Mason said. Just to mention a few: Amitabh Bachchan plays the immortal Ashwatthama, he is a LEGEND in Hindi cinema. His nickname is Big B. If you want to see more of him I would suggest the movie BLACK (2005) which is fictional but partly inspired by the story of Helen Keller (who was blind, deaf and mute). Of course you recognized Prabhas as well as Deepika whom you just saw in Jawan. For more Deepika I'd recommend TAMASHA (2015) a unique romcom/drama/coming of age movie that I and many others consider one of the best movies of Hindi cinema of the 2010s. I think Oak would have a lot to say about this one. The older man that Prabhas's character was living with and who kept asking for rent is legendary comic actor Brahmanandam, who works in the Telugu industry and holds the Guinness world record as the living actor with the most movie credits, he appeared in over 1000 movies. Mariam, the woman welcoming Deepika's character in Shambala is played by Malayalam actress Shobhana. Malayalam is the language of the Kerala region in southern India. You haven't watched a Malayalam movie yet but there are many great ones (hopefully you watch AAVESHAM soon, my fav this year!). One of Shobana's most famous role is in the popular ghost story/comedy drama MANICHITRATAZHU (1993), which I think is available on Prime. The rebel Kyra is played by another Malayalam actress, Anna Ben. She is in KUMBALANGI NIGHTS (2019) a movie widely considered one of the best from India in recent years. This one should be very high on your list! 😊 It's a unique, relatively light hearted drama about 4 brothers. The movie is on YT with subs (it's an offical upload): https://youtu.be/bNyKd0PUx04?si=yYLVEOugjBvl5uAL Oh and of course, the big baddy ("Supreme") is actually played by Kamal Haasan whom you know as Vikram! But they did major CGI on his face so it's normal you didn't recognize him. If you ever want to see a classic of Kamal then I'd recommed the period drama HEY RAM (2000) which is partly historical partly fictional (a bit like Inglorious Basterds), mostly dealing with violent religious riots and political conflicts in India around the time of partition. It's quite hard hitting. Kamal wrote it, directed it, produced it and plays the protagonist. Shah Rukh Khan (the lead in Jawan) is also in it and actually did the role for free to help Kamal with the budget. The main villain working for the evil leader (the one who gets speared at the end) is played by Saswata Chatterjee, he is very well known for his role of a contract killer in the Hindi thriller KAHAANI (2012) which is definitely one you should add to the list! The main rebel (the one driving the truck taking Sumathi to Shambala) is played by Pasupathy, a movie of his you'd enjoy is SARPATTA PARAMBARAI (2021), a boxing movie set in the 70s and inspired by real events where he plays the coach (Tamil speaking movie on Prime) There was a least 5 others well known actors but I won't go into them as my message is long already 😆 Oh and you missed the cameo by SS Rajamouli (director of Baahubali and RRR)! Towards the end he was driving the car racing after Prabhas asking him for credits. Prabhas goes "I haven't seen you in a long time sir", a funny reference to when they did Baahubali some years back 😄

Also, if you ever want to check another movie by the director of Kalki, but in a totally different genre, you can investigate MAHANATI (2018), the biopic of Savitri who was one of the most popular Telugu actresses in the 50s and 60s. You don't need to know anything about here to watch the movie. It's a really good biopic to learn about her interesting, although tragic life, and lead actress Keerthy Suresh (who did Bujji's voice in Kalki) got the National Film Award for her performance as Savitri. Savitri's husband, another famous actor of the time, is played by Dulquer Salmaan who also had a small role in Kalki playing the man who raised Prabhas's character.

I'm Batman

I fully intend to watch the others they've reacted to, and also I'd love some recommendations.

Aria Isara

Sorry for the late reply, I put together a list of recommendations for you 😊 Aavesham (Malayalam speaking action-gangster movie/dark comedy) is my fav this year, but me and others have been recommending it to Badd Medicine so maybe you'd rather wait for their reaction to watch it? So I guess I'd recommend to you stuff that I think they won't react to very soon 🙂 There is the popular Tamil movie Master, very cool story and fun action, the actor who played the villain in Jawan (Vijay Sethupathi) also plays the villain there. He's a very versatile and renowned actor, he plays the cop in the Amazon Prime series Farzi (Hindi), which is something you might want to check out too (it's suspense/dark humour, which is the trademark of the creators Raj & DK). Vijay Sethupathi is also the male lead in Merry Christmas, a Hindi slowburn thriller adapted from a famous French novel of the 60s. It's one of the best Hindi movies this year. I want to recommend it to BM for December for it's unlikely they'll watch it this soon. Sethupathi is also the co lead in Vikram Vedha (the Tamil original not the Hindi remake) a very well known thriller/gangster movie. A very solid action movie is Jailer (Tamil, 2023), with the superstar Rajnikanth. I'd also recommend the Telugu period epic Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy which has tons of great action and is based on a real freedom fighter. Fun fact, the lead actor is the dad of one of the 2 leads in RRR, which BM reacted to (and is also inspired by real freedom fighters but is mostly fictional). If you like period dramas then the Hindi movie Asoka, with the same lead as Jawan, is a good watch and is based on the life of the ancient emperor Ashoka (the movie is a tad older, early 2000s). For extra fun action and comedy I highly recommend the very creative Thallumaala (my favourite Malayalam movie). One movie I absolutely love is the Tamil gangster film/dark comedy Jigarthanda as well as its prequel Jigarthanda Double X. Especially in the prequel you will get cool action scenes. But there is also a lot more, both movies are tributes to cinema. I mentioned them to BM but who knows when they can get to them. For action/epic revenge story you can check out Agneepath (Hindi, the 2012 version). For a mix of suspense, drama, action and comedy with great cinematography and a unique protagonist who is hearing impaired you should watch Rangasthalam (Telugu). One of my fav Hindi movies is Udta Punjab, it's a mix of thriller about the drug problem in Pubjab and dark comedy. It has some great performances and is tons of fun even though it gets really dark. If you like gritty gangster movies then Gangs of Wasseypur 1 & 2 (Hindi) is something you should put on your watchlist. It's considered one of the best from India in this genre. Vada Chennai (Tamil) is a great one too. If you're open to something older then Kshana Kshanam (Telugu, 1991) is a fun action/road movie that is considered a classic. The director is very renowned and the main actress was one of the best in the country. (I saw it on YT with subs, it's an official upload: https://youtu.be/zZFcNVKytrU?si=7yQeV55LkHdHELsR) For superhero movies you can check out Minnal Murali (Malayalam) and Maaveeran (Tamil). I can give tons of other recs in many genres lol but I'll just end one a personal fav of mine: the Telugu action romance Okkadu. Oh and otherwise there is the Spy Universe by YRF. It starts with Ek Tha Tiger then Tiger Zinda Hai, then War and then Pathaan and Tiger 3. The lead actor of Jawan is the lead in Pathaan. Personally I don't "love" the spy universe but I do like it at least as a one time watch, they are entertaining for sure and quite popular (the first movie Ek Tha Tiger was more of an action romcom, the rest is true action/classic spy stuff). Let me know your thoughts if you watch one of these 😊
