Yep I consider Bastogne and The Breaking Point the pinnacle episodes of the show . We see the men pushed to their most in those episodes and to think the real men had to endure what we’ll see was much worse for them.

So they don’t touch on it specifically here when Bill Guarnere comes back from the hospital with a limp. he was in fact out on a joyride on a motorcycle, but it wasn’t a motorcycle crash or anything like that. He was actually shot by a sniper while joy riding on the bike. And I don’t recall if they show the date on screen in the show or not but Moose Heiliger was actually shot on Halloween night. Just a random fact. Lol.

Please watch the “11th episode” or “bonus episode”. It’s entitled “We Stand Alone Together“. Which is actually what “Currahee” loosely translates to. You meet a lot of the actual men and get a really great in depth real life look at everything. It’s actually the documentary from which they pull the snippets of interviews from in the beginning of the episodes. No Band of Brothers reaction is complete without this.

Fun fact for the Jimmy Fallon cameo..He was portraying Lt. George C Rice who was awarded the Bronze Star and nominated for the Medal Of Honor for driving his jeep that night, getting ammo and supplies for the 506th and Easy..He made a total of 9 runs, the last few being after the Germans had begun their attack and encircled the Americans.. Also there was a rumor that Fallon was related to him, but that seems to have just been a rumor..Would've been cool though..

Episode 9 is the pinnacle for me, but obviously, I'll hold off on talking about why until we get there since some people here (and three of the four guys) haven't seen it. Episode 6 is one I'm both looking forward to and also very much not, given it's the most intense episode of the series. And I can't lie, I kinda got a little misty reading the end card again, thinking about the courage of the people involved; my grandfather didn't fight in Bastogne, but he did fight in the larger Battle of the Bulge (of which Bastogne was part, for those who may not know that).

One thing I realized while watching this again with you guys is that CPT Winters has to relive the horrific events twice because he has to type up those reports and recall everything that happened. The way they edited it with cutting between the memory of the action and the typewriter was great.

For my money band of brothers is the best series ever made, it has a crazy mix of hollywood veterans with hollywood mainstays and guys who would become main faces in hollywood after band of brothers , so perfect casting, directing, effects and everything in between

I never realized Peacock was the reason for the delay on the charge, like Talbert and others jumped when they heard the grenade pop from their experience, but a replacement lieutenant made them stay because the smoke malfunctioned and took longer to disperse. And then its wild that half or 2/3 of Easy company took out a majority of 2 companies in one go.
