PEAKY FOOKIN BLINDERS

RE Freddie Thorne, unfortunately he had a scheduling conflict with another project he was working on. Shame because I imagine he really would have been an important character in future seasons.

Lily

Diamond Dave idk if u were confused about the character exit or the actor exit but character wise, Freddie died of "pestilence," likely the Spanish flu , Thomas mentioned it briefly at the funeral

Donna Castellano

Freddie died from, I'd imagine, influenza. Tommy said he died of pestilence.

George Roybal

Everything Tommy does is for a reason. It may seem dumb, but you'll find out it always comes back in his favor.

Milo&Otis

Hello! I know its September and I have a movie suggestion for December I think you guys would enjoy Fred Claus starring Vince Vaughn & Paul Giamatti.

Hyperaware

Dave, how did you miss the part where Tommy says “In the end It wasn’t war that took him, it was pestilence”

Badd Medicine

My confusion is more around what happen to the actor and show more than the character death.

Jennifer Epperson

Pestilence was most often bubonic plague, but could be any epidemic. Spanish flu was a pandemic from 1918-20, and I believe Freddie died in 1922, so it might have been the plague, not Spanish flu. The actor had a previous commitment that kept him from returning to the series.

Darren Armstrong

The next episode is one of my favourites!

I think Tommy's major issue thus far is that he might have gotten a little cocky after taking down Billy Kimber. We didn't see everything that went on behind the scenes of the operation, so it could have been a bit more complicated than it looked, but the fact that Billy Kimber and his gang were from/operating in the same sort of area as Tommy and the Peaky Blinders probably made it easier for them to gather information and plan their takeover. Also, the fact that Billy Kimber was more of a figurehead and less the actual leader (that was more so the role of the guy that always travelled with him; I think they might have referred to him as the accountant/treasurer of Kimber's organization) cannot be understated. It seems so far that Sabini is the leader of his operation in every sense of the word - he may not be getting his hands as dirty, but he still came down to Birmingham with his muscle to ensure that Tommy understood just how serious he was taking the insult that was the Peaky Blinders breaking the "rules of engagement". He is also operating in/controlling a much rougher and more distant area than Kimber was, meaning that they are better equipped to handle these threats and the Peaky Blinders' access to information about them will be much more limited.
