I don't know if you guys picked up that Arthur and John were also in the war with Tommy. We don't see them much in flashbacks because that one incident is the one that haunts Tommy the most. They get into the why more, especially in S6 (which I finally finished).

I read an interesting theory that the three Shelby men each represent a different manifestation of combat PTSD. Thomas is emotionally detached and distant rather than deal with his emotions; Arthur is out of control and abuses substances to try and cope; and John misses the violence and tries to provoke people into fights. I thought it was an interesting way of looking at their personalities. I also read an interesting theory about something in S6, but that'll have to wait a bit 🤣🤣

There's a great Aussie film called Beneath Hill 60 about the tunnel warfare Tommy and co are involved in. Really captures the panic, anxiety, and horror of it all
