LINK: The Incredibles FULL REACTION

What a great film this was! The Incredibles plot is all about the Parr family, who are living undercover as a regular family after superheroes are forced to hide because people turned against them. Bob Parr, aka Mr. Incredible, is bored with his suburban life and dull job. Missing his superhero days, he secretly takes on a mysterious mission that quickly goes off the rails. His wife Helen, aka Elastigirl along with their three kids Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack, have to step in to save him and stop the villain Syndrome from causing chaos.

The writing is sharp and clever, mixing exciting superhero action with smart commentary on family dynamics and other pressures. The animation is fantastic. Kudos to all of the crew involved in that process. The characters are uniquely designed, and the animation captures both their superpowers and their everyday emotions perfectly.

The voice cast is amazing. Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and Elizabeth Peña. All of their performances are fantastic. The great themes laid out in this film of identity, family, and the pressure to fit in. Work together as a family to face challenges.

Overall, The Incredibles is an incredible (sorry, had to!) movie. Thanks for the recommendation! Definitely, worth the watch if you haven't seen it already.

LOVE THESE FILMS! “The Incredibles” walked so “Marvel” could run! I quote Dash’s line on a daily basis: “WE’RE DEAD. WE’RE DEAD. WE SURVIVED BUT WE’RE DEAD.” 😂

Alanna Meyers

LFG 🦸🏻‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Dropping everything

Scott Bringel

Conor Moriarty

Rochelle F

So happy I’m off work today!!! Let’s go!

SILV3R SP3CT3R

Didn't know this was coming but I'm ready for it.

I'm Batman

So after doing a Google search Mr. Incredible was 40 years old at the time when he was on the island. In the beginning of the movie he was 25 years old. After oak asking how old he was during this I had to find out or it was gonna bother me. They have his wife at 38 years old as well.

Rochelle F

The villain lava entrance room kind of looks like Cerebro from X-Men

Lauren

Brad Bird also did The Iron Giant! He’s an amazing animated director! Edit: okay, I just got to the part where you guys recognized that. In any regard, thanks for the reaction! As always, you make my day brighter with these uploads!

LaLa

"The law requires that I say no." has been in my life mantra for 20 years now. Good reminder that letting your temper snap probably isn't worth the prison time. 😅 If you didn't catch it, it's inferred that Edna is a Super as well. It's been theorized that she is able to read what other people's powers are. Which is why when she was making the suits she knew what all the kids needed without ever meeting them. I hope you guys react to the short 'Jack Jack Attack' before you watch the sequel. It takes place during this movie and you get see why Kari is freaking out on the phone. It still makes my sides hurt from laughing when I watch it. Thanks for the super review! I love that you guys mentioned all the layers of storytelling and lessons. 🩷💛💙

Kalie Murray

Jack Jack Attack is on Disney+ it's a short that came with the DVD. Could watch it for fun before starting the second one?(:

Ron Banks

Straight classic right here. This is forever a top 5 Pixar movie for me. I still have my Remote Control "incredimobile" which you saw Mr. Incredible driving at the beginning. That animation holds up. Fun Fact: The Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl actors hadn't even met each other at all until t they did the second movie because they recorded all their lines separately.

slavicandsapphic

Man i forgot how much i absolutely despised Syndrome(as a person, character n writing wise hes amazing)

Alexiani Gollarza

This movie is soooo part of my childhood I could have seen it without the watch along and understand everything! It's been a while though and I loved watching it again with you guys. THIS MOVIE IS PERFECTION, it will NEVER get old. Also, I want to defend Helen when she saw her hip size, we women do that xD and it made the movie relatable, not only with that but with a lot of things, can't wait to see the review!

Rochelle F

Please please watch Jack Jack Attack before the 2nd movie. It’s a short about Jack Jack and the babysitter while the family was away saving the day. And you need to know what happens to better prepare for the next movie. Had so much fun watching one, thank you for everything yall do!

Alanna Meyers

I remember seeing this movie in theatres when I was about 9 years old. I was amazed by it. One thing I especially love about The Incredibles series is that the family’s powers reflect their personality, gender, and age. Violet is becoming a teen girl who is shy and awkward and she’s defensive so her powers are invisiblity and creating a protective force field. Helen is a mom who’s used to being pulled in many directions and thus is incredibly elastic. Bob is a man so he’s often expected to be the leader, big and strong and not show weakness so his main power is strength. Dash is a young boy full of energy and outgoing so his power is speed. It all fits so perfectly.

John F.

You need to now watch the Pixar short: Jack Jack Attacks. It’s hilarious!

Alanna Meyers

Also I know other people have mentioned it but if you haven’t already filmed your reaction to the sequel PLEASE watch the short on Disney+ called Jack Jack Attack. It was released in 2005 and shows what went on with Jack Jack and the babysitter Kari while the family was on the island. It’s 6 minutes of gold. Not required but I think you’d really enjoy it and you could tap it on before the 2nd reaction as an extra on Patreon potentially. Also, the second one in my opinion is even better. It’s everything you love about the first one dialled up to 11.

Ninoshkka Paul

cant wait for you guys to watch meet the robinsons, compared to this and some of your other favorite animated movies it will HIT the spot

kaleyrose

Hope you add other Pixar films to the channel, like the “Toy Story” films, “Finding Nemo” and “Monster’s Inc”!

Isaiah

yessss, finding nemo and toy story are also my pixar favorites 😭😭

Audrey

Awesome reaction guys!!! You gotta do Monsters Inc next month!

Megan

Such a great movie! I believe I was 9 when this came out and literally everyone who saw the film waited for the part 2 that "never" came. Then we all got excited when 2 was announced like a decade later and theaters were packed with all of us young adults and our parents who waited. I don't think a single kid was in our theater and it was packed!

Kyra Brown

Yesss there is a reason why this is one the best Pixar movie ever it's so iconic can't wait to watch you guys reaction 😍 ❤️

jasminethegreat

yall i waited for this reaction for so long i had a dream today you guys uploaded the first 17 minutes of the reaction and sent out a new schedule saying part 2 will be on Sunday 😭. it was so real i checked patreon in sorrow

Raquel Perodin

Aw, I really do wish you all had watched the short Jack Jack attack. it shows what happed between him and Cari the babysitter. Oak, you hit the nail on the head. This movies brings so many lessons and has many layers. It brings a sense of reality like the hero’s being sued, and brings mature topics like the attempted Su!s!de, infidelity and a sense of real life danger. Plus it’s just so fun and funny. It’s my favorite Pixar movie.

Emilysr97

I love this movie! It was also one of my dad's favorites. it was our go-to vacation movie, no matter where we went.

David Wong

Fantastic movie, great reaction guys! Oak you were referring to "Cerebro" from X-Men.

Jade Lastra

The Incredibles was my favorite movie and I still remember watching the teasers and trailers for it. I think the first teaser was the scene of Bob’s memorabilia and it ends with a landline that has the incredibles symbol on it (pretty sure it was inspired by the batman tv show). But my favorite scene to this day is the airplane scene. In the dvd commentary they explain that IG99 is a reference to the Iron Giant which came out in ‘99. The commentary also includes that Holly Hunter learned the lingo and meanings alluding to Elastigirl’s air force experience. Hence the use of “vectors on the initial” and “transmitting in the blind guard”. And speaking of how dark the movie is, there was a rough cut of the scene where Helen’s old air force buddy Snug was piloting the plane with her. The original scene was supposed to end with him piloting the plane alone giving Helen and the kids time to escape, which is why the shot of Helen looking up at the plane lingers, it was meant to be her mourning her friend, but instead it became more “that could have been us.”

Angie

i watched this so many times as a kid and adult that i can literally quote the first 20 minutes haha

Pathetic_Effort

Man I loved this movie as child, but watching Mr Incredible strangle Mirage shocked me to the core as a kid lol. Loved the reaction!

Calbah

The woman who voices Violet is Sarah Vowell. She is actually a writer who specializes in history. I have audiobooks of most of her work and it's really interesting. Assassination Vacation is about the assassinations of Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley, including her road trip to tourist sites about them. The cast of the audiobook includes Stephen King as Lincoln, Conan O'Brien as his son Robert, Jon Stewart as Garfield, and Brad Bird as Garfield's assassin. Bird also voices Emma Goldman, an anarchist who was arrested after McKinley's assassination but wasn't involved. Some of her other books are The Wordy Shipmates, about the Puritan's settlement in New England, Unfamiliar Fishes, about the end of the Kingdom of Hawaii (an even bigger all-star cast for that audiobook including Bill Hader, Edward Norton, Keanu Reeves, Paul Rudd, and more), and Lafayette in the Somewhat United States, about the American Revolution focusing on the Marquis de Lafayette's contribution to the war. Sarah Vowell is quite witty. I should also add that she's not really a voice actor. Violet Parr's voice is pretty close to her voice. Brad Bird heard her doing a piece on This American Life and thought she would be good for the part.

Jeff K

My absolute favorite Pixar movie, by a significantly wide margin. Which is saying something since, when I was still hoping to be a screenwriter back in my early 20s, I had an idea for a dark comedy about superheroes in a witness relocation-type program, and then this movie came out like a year after I started trying to work out a script (Brad Bird is much, much better at this than I am, shockingly!). This movie is just so good. I like the sequel too, but this one is great. It's also the best Fantastic Four movie ever, despite the fact that it's, y'know... not actually a Fantastic Four movie.

Jeff K

Oh! And Brad Bird does the voice of Edna Mode, but wasn't originally going to. Instead, it was going to be comedy legend Lily Tomlin. But when she was struggling to figure out the voice/delivery, Bird did what he had in mind as an example for her, and she told him point blank, "You need to do this character instead of me."

Shirlene Wright

Oh Wow, what a fabulous reaction. Got me tearing up. This movie is really great. I like the style. It reminds me of film noir. I was expecting a "Dame to walk into a Detective's office". Thank You. Can't wait for the next one.

Calculatus Eliminatus

Violet embodies the definition of a shrinking violet at the beginning.

Inverse Voltage

Great reaction, guys. I loved this movie growing up, and it's nice to see others enjoy it, too. BTW, Brad Bird also directed one of the Mission Impossible movies, I believe number four. He also did the voice of Edna because he was the only one who could get it to sound right.

Patience

Iconic MOVIE Great Reaction , you can react to a short and deleted Scenes when kari is baby sitting JACJACK

Jln Acb

Incredible (wink wink) video, you guys. Please do Finding Nemo next!

Oulianor Timothee

This in my top 3 Pixar films, I watched this to death as kid when I got the dvd. You guy should watch Jack-Jack Attack its a short that accompanies the movie, best to watch it before the 2nd movie. You guys mentioned the clothing simulation person pop up early in the credits, it was fitting because simulating clothes was a tough task for this movie. Monsters Inc. revolutionized fur, Finding Nemo water, and Incredibles brought it all together with hair, water, and clothes. Brad Bird directed Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, he is famous amongst the Pixar brain trust for emphasizing that animation is not a genre but a medium, this movie really illustrated that with its more serious themes which isn't always associated with animation.

Nova Amore

I loved this reaction! If you guys have time, it would be cool to see your reactions to the 2 shorts done for this movie! One is for the first movie (Jack Jack attack), and the other is for the second movie (auntie Edna). They both focus on Jack Jack🔥 *Oh, and they aren't long at all, I think combined they're like 15-20 mins??

Alanna Meyers

Auntie Edna was a short for the second I believe so they should probably watch that one after, if they choose to watch the shorts that is 🤞

Eric Dontae

Its Probably Way To Late But You Guys Should Watch Jack Jack Shorts Before The Next One Lol If You Can

Ryan Towell

Brad Bird, wrote, directed and did the voice for Edna, he does a lot of character voice work, but he also directed the Iron Giant which he also wrote, wrote and directed Ratatouille, and directed Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, the one filmed in Dubai. Talented guy.

Bri

There are so many references I quote from this lol. I also love "I just cleaned up this mess, can you keep it clean for 10 minutes!?"

Bri

I was 10 when this came out and it was THAT family movie! We had it on DVD and I will say, The Incredibles and Shrek had the best bonus content lol. Like everyone else mentioning the short, definitely check out Jack Jack Attack, but I also recommend looking at the behind the scenes and deleted scenes, I found it so interesting! Like there was a deleted scene that had Violet as a baby and she could turn invisible even back then, and I thought how scary that would be. They also talked about a scraped scene where they get more into the affair accusations but then they stopped and realized, 'wait, what is this doing in a Pixar movie?' lol. But I like how there are still pieces of that in there and how there are still some adult themes in there. There was also this bonus content about all the other supes that they mentioned or showed as terminated and they put there information in files so that you could scroll through and read more about them and their powers. I thought it was so cool.

Plebcy

Incredibles 2 definitely isn't as good in my opinion, but still a good watch. Although, the animation is stellar in the 2018 sequel. If you thought the animation was good in 04, the animation in the sequel is next level!

Bartimaeus

I watched a YouTube video then explaining how amazing Incredibles animation was. The animation for Incredibles back then especially innovative. Basically computers were bad at 3D-animating mostly anything human, hair, water, fire, etc., but Pixar took on the challenge head on and even created specific locations (scenes with different environments) like the underwater dive of the plane. And this is the most locations they had. They created their own models, and the rest was history. This film is really incredible.

kaleyrose

So good! I think the relationship between Boo and Sully would really pull on their heartstrings, especially Oak!

kaleyrose

Another great line! Same with “GREATER GOOD?! I AM YOUR WIFE. I’M THE GREATEST GOOD YOU ARE EVER GONNA GET!”

Artem Dmytrenko

Yeah, one of my favorite kid movies

Alex Boatman

That's also why Pixar decided to make Toy Story as their first film, because skin shading looked like plastic because of the technology limitations of the time. So they created a film where the main characters were all made of plastic and then they only had to worry about a couple human characters not looking as great as the main cast.

Alex Boatman

A fun easter egg to always look for in Pixar movies is the sequence A113. It's also in other films and TV shows, but is mostly seen in some Disney films and almost every Pixar one. A113 was the classroom number at California Institute of the Arts where a lot of the main Pixar leadership attended.

Alex Boatman

The two old men at the end of the robot fight that talk about "no school like the old school" are actually Frank and Ollie, at the time two of the classic Disney animators that were still alive, part of "Disney's Nine Old Men."

Angie

oh really?? I always loved Violet's voice! I need to check that out then!

Katryna Lavin

Animated movie rec- I think it would be great content if yall reacted to the Tinker Bell movies, plus there’s a few of them so plenty of content to milk!!!

Ivan Rasmussen

That story of Andy was pretty awesome. I love how movies and even just people dressing up as characters can bring joy into other people's lives. So glad you guys liked this!

Abigail.M

I would love it if, after Incredibles 2, you guys did the 2 6-7 minute short films on Dinsey+ for the Incredibles. They are so funny and just great. i haven't watched this movie in so long and it was so nice to watch it with yall. the scene with the balls very much reminded me of Mineta from MHA, which I hope y'all watch (no spoilers since that doesn't really give away anything). Anyway, it's a great video, and I can't wait for the 2nd!
