I do think Spirited Away is a complex movie for what it represents. I thin Ponyo, the Secret World of Arrietty (a borrowers remake), or Kikis Delivery Services would have been better choices to start out on Ghibli. Howls Moving Castle and Princess Monoke are great movies as well! I first watched this as a kid, so i was just amazed with the pretty animation to really understand what the story is suppoesed to represent... til i watched a few video essays on youtube too :3 Excellent reaction guys.

Spirited away, I do enjoy the film, but it’s not one of my favorites studio Ghibli films. It is complex and it does take a lot of thought and process to understand the film. And it can be a lot for first time Ghibli watchers I feel that a good start off film with studio Ghibli. would either be Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, howls moving castle, Ponyo, princess mononoke and The Boy and the Heron. Grave of the fireflies is also a masterpiece. But it can be pretty graphic, considering it’s a World War II film, but in Japan. And not many people can watch it after one time. Considering how sad the film is. And you just get emotionally wrecked for a while. But I hope you guys do decide to watch more studio Ghibli
