A celebration of the reliable 3-star movies we love, GOOD ENOUGH MOVIES looks back on the not-quite-classics you can still quote by heart and will always stop to watch whenever they're on. Maybe it's a nostalgic fave you haven't seen in years, maybe it's a movie you would've loved but never heard about - until now. They're far from perfect, they're hardly ubiquitous, but they're still G.E.M.s

THIS INSTALLMENT: Once upon a time all it took to launch a six-film blockbuster movie franchise was winning chemistry, crackling dialogue between two main characters and... actually, that pretty much did it. In a time when sound-era Hollywood was just beginning to rediscover the power of big-picture spectacle, audiences were also packing theaters to watch Nick and Nora Charles banter, drink, lounge around the party scene and (eventually) solve a crime or two - and here's the one that started it all.
