Pitched as little more than a Black AUSTIN POWERS in its initial marketing and based on an early webseries that few had heard of, UNDERCOVER BROTHER has since earned a reputation as an early-00s cult-classic with a surprisingly blunt take on race-relations humor for the era and an ahead-of-its-time theme of rehabilitating the so-called "blaxploitation" genre. 15 years later, is it worth revisiting - or checking out for the first time?

Good Enough Movies: UNDERCOVER BROTHER (2002)

http://www.patreon.com/moviebob1 A celebration of the reliable 3-star movies we love, GOOD ENOUGH MOVIES looks back on the not-quite-classics you can still quote by heart and will always stop to watch whenever they're on. Maybe it's a nostalgic fave you haven't seen in years, maybe it's a movie you would've loved but never heard about - until now. They're far from perfect, they're hardly ubiquitous, but they're still G.E.M.s THIS INSTALLMENT: Pitched as little more than a Black AUSTIN POWERS in its initial marketing and based on an early webseries that few had heard of, UNDERCOVER BROTHER has since earned a reputation as an early-00s cult-classic with a surprisingly blunt take on race-relations humor for the era and an ahead-of-its-time theme of rehabilitating the so-called "blaxploitation" genre. 15 years later, is it worth revisiting - or checking out for the first time? I happened to catch this movie on cable a few days ago. Solid! --- Mr Chipman's video presentation was enjoyable. However, I don't understand why Chris Kattan is the thumbnail. It's bad enough that the non-lead isn't the thumbnail. It is worse that the movie is all about Blacks trying to fight White oppression, and this video was made by a White person opting to use one of the few White actors instead of a Black. (Social Commentary? In-Joke? Saracm?) But if Mr Chipman is going to use a White actor, then she should have chosen Denise Richards or Neil Patrick Harris. Either of them would generate way more views than Kattan. LOL

You know, whenever I create a YouTube video, THEY give me options on what to put as the thumbnail, and it's rarely what I would choose. Of course, MovieBob probably knows how to get around that, but that's what came to mind when I saw Chris Kattan's frightening face on here.

Great and informative review! Though I dislike use of the term mincing I will admit.
