Lecture: The Joy of Jams (Plus: channel updates!) (Patreon)
Content
Hello!
So I sometimes give talks at universities and game studios around the globe. Last week I was invited to talk (virtually) at a game studio here in the UK - they're running an internal game jam, so asked me to speak about the value of doing jams, based on my experience running GMTK Game Jam.
I like to record myself practicing the talk so that I can provide them to Patrons as bonus content. So... here we go! You can watch it here.
While I've got you here, lemme give you a few updates
1) The next video on the channel is my annual "How accessible were this year's games?" video. That should be out this week. It's been 90% ready for a while, I've just been waiting for Halo Infinite to release.
2) Then it's my annual "deep dive into an innovative game" video. No spoilers on the game I've picked this year, but I'm excited to break it down. That's out in a couple weeks.
3) Thanks so much to everyone who took the GMTK Patreon survey. I'll be looking into those responses soon. I'll let you know what I find out, and what I want to do with the Patreon in 2022 in...
4) My big 2021 channel review post. That should drop after Christmas but before New Year's, I think.
5) There's also the reading list and playlist videos for December. As usual, the playlist will be my top 10 favourite games released in 2021. I often do something a little round-uppy for the reading list, too. We'll see.
I think that's it! Once all those are done I can put a bow on 2021, play some games, and get back into Unity for the next episode of Developing. And start planning 2022's GMTK episodes!
Speak soon, thanks!
