We're running a Smash Bros Ultimate tournament! (Patreon)

Hey everyone! Mark here. I just wanted to give you the heads up that my wonderful mod team is running a GMTK Smash Bros tourney over on the Patreon Discord. As always, you just need to connect your Discord account to your Patreon account to gain access. Or click here for more details.

I won't be playing as I don't have Ultimate - but I am pretty active in the Discord in general so swing by if you want to chat about games, cats, and quarantine. 

Anyhoo. Here's what the mods have to say about it:

This is meant to be a super chill, just for funsies tourney, so we're not going to have especially strict "official tournament" rules and we're open for all skill levels. Even if you're new to the game, as long as you got Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and an internet connection you're more than welcome to enter! GMTK Smash Bros. (Super-Chill-Just-For-Funsies-Patreon-Only-) Tourney Rules:

1. The fights will primarily take place through Smash Bros. Ultimate and it's Online battle feature, using the ruleset below.

2. The ruleset for GMTK matches are the following:

• Match style: Best of 3, 3 stock
• Time Limit: 10:00
• FS Meter: Off
• Items: Medium spawn rate
• Disabled Items: Smash Ball, Assist Trophy, Master Ball, Dragoon and Daybreak parts, Heart Container, Fairy Bottle, Super Star, Golden Hammer and Special Flag
• Stage: Random
• No DLC characters

3. Should both participants in a match be willing, the ruleset above may be changed to suit their needs. This can for example be "Allow DLC characters", "Disable All Items" or "1v1 Final Destination No Items Fox Only", whatever you both agree on. If your opponent does not want to change a rule, it stays.

4. The tournament bracket will be either Single or Double elimination, depending on the number of people joining. The brackets will be sorted by timezone.

5. You are given 5 days to arrange a match with your opponents (preferably through Discord DMs). Should you both try and fail to find a suitable time, please refer to rule 6. If your opponent makes no effort to find a suitable time, contact us GMTK mods and we will resolve the situation (likely resulting in a win-by-default). 

6. If the network ends up being terrible for either contestant or something else hinders you from arranging a game, you are free to resolve the winner in whatever way you can agree on (coin toss, 1v1 Widowmaker Headshot only, sword duel etc). You should always attempt Smash first, but hey we're just having fun and no one likes losing due to technical difficulties. 

7. Moderator SlamBamActionman will be available during the GMT+1 timezone to host matches with the GMTK ruleset, if you don't want to set it up yourselves. Contact him for details after working out a time with your opponent.
