Hello!

So I've been doing lots of really big, in-depth videos lately. Time for something a bit lighter: a quick-fire ode to Prey's amazing immersive sim weapon: the Gloo cannon. Lemme know what you think! Available to the world tomorrow!

The Genius of Prey's Gloo Cannon | Game Maker's Toolkit

You know I love a good multipurpose game mechanic. Prey’s Gloo Cannon is one of the best. Let my tell you why. There are no major spoilers for Prey in this video, so please do watch it if you've yet to try the game. I really enjoyed this video and I would love to see more of these 'focus on a single feature' type videos!

Thank you for talking about Prey! One of the best and most underrated games in my opinion and my personal favourite. I remember reading a tweet that said it's the best FPS weapon since Half Life's Gravity Gun in terms of diverse gameplay use. And yeah the video is great.

I didn't realize how much I'd missed these focused deep dives into a single mechanic. Really great video!

Here's another interesting thing about Prey: That whole game doesn't have an automatic, fast shooting gun or rifle. You have a pistol, a shotgun, a stun gun and you can attack with some powers. There is the Q-Beam, which is a laser rifle, but it doesn't make instant damage. The closest thing to a automatic rifle is the Glue Cannon, which is a great weapon against those small enemies, that are chasing the player and exploding by contact. I think it's telling a lot about Prey, that the closest thing to a an automatic rifle, which is the goto weapon of most modern shooters, is this experimental gun, that does all sort of things. Combat is an option in Prey, but not the dominant one.

This video was great, I love the very specific subject videos like this one. And the music also reminded me of how great prey's ost is too! :D

Great video as usual Mark :)

It's silly, but I loved the style of reading the articles you quote through the "Files" interface in Prey terminals. A nice touch. I'm in the minority that didn't enjoy 'Prey' as much as most - it was fine, but not a favorite - but I did like playing around and experimenting with what the Gloo cannon could do for me. This video reminded me that I probably didn't find all the things it could do, but I found enough to make it interesting.
