Hello! Three things for you today.

One! The final episode of GMTK is here. It's about the most interesting game of the year: Return of the Obra Dinn. I really like having this alternative "game of the year" video where I don't talk about the big, obvious AAA games - but stuff that's a bit weird, a bit indie, a bit different.

Two! I've made a video about some plans for 2019. You can watch that here

I'll release it to the public a little later in the month. I've been doing some planning for the first series I talk about, which is on multiplayer balance. Here's what I'm thinking for the series identity:

Bit of a racing theme for this one. Really looking forward to getting stuck in.

Three! Thanks for your feedback on the Patron rewards. The main sticking point was people who were disappointed that they'd lose access to that bonus video on the $3 tier. So I've changed my mind and won't be doing that.

Instead, I think the rewards will look like this:

$1 - Reading List, Discord, Other Random Updates

$3 - Bonus "What I've Been Playing" Video, Early Access to my Written Reviews

$5 - 24 Hour Early Access to all new videos, sneak peeks at upcoming videos, polls, behind the scenes content, editing tutorials

$10 - Credits shout out.

How does that sound?

Mark

Great! I'll be jumping up to the $5 mark asap.

Sounds ideal to me! I am already 5 dollars and won't be changing it, but am hyped for the new content stuff added to it, especially the polls!

Anonymous

Sounds good! I'll stay on the 5$ tier.

I'm also greatly looking forward to the multiplayer balance series, it's one of the many things in gaming I find fasinating. :D

That's great news! I had to drop down tiers, regretfully, not that long ago so I'm glad I won't be missing out too much!

Anonymous

Happy to see the bonus video is staying at $3 I'll keep my pledge the same : )

Anonymous

Just realised I can't watch the whole video either! That game looks so intriguing and right up my street

Anonymous

Happy to see you've changed idea. It may sound selfish but I pledge mainly cause I love the stuff you throw at us. Being a 3$ pledge, losing the video would have meant that I would have downgraded to 1$ for the reading list which I enjoy.

Awesome, glad I still get to watch the bonus video. Thanks for listening! :) Also really like the sound of what's coming in 2019. Great stuff! Well done on a superb year!

I'm excited for the new balance series. It's cool that you're gonna be covering fighting games as well. Ever since becoming part of the FG Community it's always fascinated me how people who play fighting games have a really good idea of good game design within the genre. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts .

Thanks for being so reseptive to feedback I appreciate you keeping the bonus video at the 3$ level.

As a game developer (well, sort of) i always find your reading list one of your better rewards. I jump right into it as soon as you post it and pass the next few days diving into the contents you curate for us. I think you undervalue that content but i'm happy with the tier reesctructuration. As always, thank you for you work and your continuos effort to improve your patreon.

Sounds good, I will be staying at the 3$ tier :) Have a great rest of the year!

I got this for free but I don't need it. It's a code for the 'Everspace' game on GOG. UDPBF94C0C95FA195Q

Cool, thanks for listening.

Thanks for keeping the bonus videos at $3

I was quite worried about the $3 tier, so thank you for not removing the bonus video. I really do like the new tiers, and I don’t recall you doing editing tutorials before, which I think is awesome! I can’t justify it every month, but every so often I might up my tier to $5 to check those out! Thanks Mark!

Thanks for keeping the bonus video with $3 tier! :D

Max Jahner

The series sounds great and I'm totally down for the new tiers. Thanks for listening! I'd love to occasionally pop up to a $5 or $10, but $3 is a great baseline for me to have year-round.

Sounds great - thanks for being open to feedback!

Sounds even better!

Hey Mark, almost everything seems great, except for one thing. I think the polls should be accesable for every tier just because you'll probably get the outcome that most people are happy with. Just like you didn't just let the 5 dollar tier give their opinions on the new tiers.

Hello Mark. From what I understand, the 5$ tier will no longer have the name rolling in the credits. Assuming above, I will no longer continue be a patron. I've been a 5$ patron for over 2 years, and with the change to not have my name in the end credits makes more inclined to take those 5$ and give to other creators on Patreon. I hope you do not see this as "take away my name, and i'll take away your money". My reason to keep the at the 5$, which I bumped up from 3$ in 2016, is to have a record in the videos of my support to you. With that being removed (combined with your amazing growth the past years) I feel my 5$ would better go to support other creators. That was my rant, and while I've got your attention I want to add that your videos have been VERY informative, good, and other positive words which I can't remember just now. Love your work, and I definitely hope you continue to grow :) Best regards, Vladimirs Nordholm

Sounds great, can't wait for the series on characters!

No worries Vlad, thanks for your support while it was there! There's lots of great creators on Patreon who need the cash more than I do - sprinkle it around!

So RotOD gives you contrived windows on its world, but the world itself is very not contrived. Instead of testing me on dialogue trees, I'm being tested on my ability to distinguish among English, Scottish, and Irish accents -- not easy for this American! The fact that a person's uniform clues you into their role, but there's no gamey acknowledgement of that, is quite realistic. (New patron rewards look fine, btw.)
