So it's finally happened. My 6-7 year old Z68-APD3 and i7 2600k finally decided to croak. Got a bluescreen error yesterday (WHEA UNCONTROLLABLE ERROR) and apparently that means something in my rig has decided to just not work properly anymore. To be fair, I saw this coming. For months I've been getting a similar error but kept pushing it off because I didn't want to reformat my 5+ year old Windows files and have to reinstall everything. Now I'm paying the price. Spent most of the night troubleshooting only to no avail. I am really hoping I'll be able to recover my files from my SSD as that is where stuff for my current project is. AFAIK it's a motherboard issue so I should be able to but I can't help but worry. My lesson learned from this: If you have a strong feeling that something in your system is about to give in: don't be lazy and just back it up and replace whatever part that is.
I'm sad to say this'll mean a delay on the current project until I get a new system and reinstall everything.
I apologize for this and wish you guys a good upcoming April (this isn't an April fool's joke btw).
