Here is a long awaited shading walkthrough. I would have filmed this but honestly it’s easier this way for now! Maybe I can think of something more structured. Anywho, let me explain the process!!

So when I have my pose, line art done and flat colours, I add a clipping mask so that it’s just white under the line art! This forces you to focus only on the shading and tones with no distractions from the character’s colours and markings. 

When I shade, I am a sculptor. I have to carve out the character’s features and traits through shading only! I usually go for a pink ish colour and multiply then add blues where the shading would be darker. Lots of blending and erasing where the light would hit the character! I then add a soft airbrush with a dark grey purple for really shaded areas Like under the chin for instance. Once all that is done, I then turn the colours back on and add some overlay and add layers for highlights! Then I take the art into Lightroom and adjust in there :)
