Don't want to spoil her questline, but once you have her open up to you, she'll get better. Just be honest with her and don't force her to reveal anything to you. She has a big character moment in the shadow cursed lands

She likes good deeds and helping other people, basically unselfish actions. As well as not forcing her to open up about herself/past in the early parts of the game. The only reason I can think of as to why she wouldn't like you is if you're doing an "evil" playthrough and making selfish/evil choices.

I feel like I got her romance scene pretty early lol, she's so sweet once she feels comfortable around Tav (⁠灬⁠º⁠‿⁠º⁠灬⁠)⁠♡ she's the perfect combination of sweetness and snark and I love her so much
