Been kinda dreading this announcement on account of Emily's popularity. I don't know if this'll make people happy or piss them off. Part 1 of Emily Saunders 4 is going to be re-rendered in the new rendering engine that I am now using with all my work (see attached). I figured we're so early into the project that it's better to do it now, while there's only 1 part to redo (the files are saved, so it won't be a lengthy process. 90% of remaking it will just be opening the files and clicking render!).

(note: Anyone who has purchased Part 1 via the store will be emailed the re-rendered version as soon as it is available).

I'm pretty worried about how people might feel about this, but my switching over goes a little beyond just me liking how the new style looks. My old rendering settings were consistent as well as the lighting, for continuity's sake - but I crafted them specifically to function well on my extremely old PC so that I (and it!) could keep up with my workload.

My new computer is no space-ship, but it's certainly more contemporary, and ironically it's struggling with my old render settings that worked so fast on the old machine. In short: This computer is too advanced to understand ‘ye days of olde’…!

Some of these renders done in my old style are taking HOURS to render on this new computer AND the renders are completing with a shitload of render-glitches that I have to manually photoshop out. This new engine I’m using renders INSTANTLY and with 0 glitches.

I hope this doesn’t bother too many people, but I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do. Fortunately, I like the look of this more functional method of rendering, but I can’t help but feel hesitance given that we’ve enjoyed a whole trilogy of a set specific style, that now has to change for the fourth episode.

But on the plus side, once this is sorted, she’ll be back on track. The image sets can be much bigger, and I’ve even got a new shame shifter series coming called “the Dame Nation”, so there’s a lot going on, this rendering-style issue is just a bug that needs to be ironed out!

All the best folks,

- Doc
