Hey ladies.

One night I couldn't sleep and decided to start working on a game. I had the idea for a simple visual novel/point and click game because I wanted to write some dumb stuff and do some sprite animations because they're fun. The best way I could showcase them together is with something interactive. So I figured a game would be the best direction to go in. I'm aiming for a MSX visual novel style look, think Snatcher or VA-11 Hall-A I guess.

I was hoping I'd have a demo ready by now but it's taking a lot longer than I expected and the current state doesn't reflect how I intend the final product to be. consider this the pre-pre-pre-alpha stage if you want.

I've mostly been putting together the framework for the project. I want to make sure I have everything I intend to add fully functioning before I start to make any progress with any kind of graphics or writing. At the moment I've got text progression working and basic menus and stuff. Nothing spectacular for the most part, but it's needed.

I had to rewrite how the mouse functions  (for a third time and probably not the last) just for this stupid feature:

I've got a basic idea of what themes I want to go for in terms of visuals. The best way I can sum it up is what if Las Vegas was overgrown with plants so I've been testing that idea by working it into the UI.

I won't be going with these character sprites though since I want something more illustrative. I threw together a star field effect on this last one today because it looks nicer than that fucking grid I've been staring at since the 10th of August...

Game dev is hard. I will continue that ENA drawing I started before I got distracted with this hopefully in the coming week.

I need sleep. Catch you later.

Yes, it's gonna be a game for adults.
