EU membership would be hugely advantageous for your kids Vinny. They'd be able to live, study, work and travel anywhere in the EU. I live in Scotland and that was taken away from my children with Brexit, that was a sad day.

100000% I just sent Vinny a long email about this. I'm American living in Europe for a while and my kid is dual-citizen. It's VERY worth it IMO

@Vinny probably a great many people have explained it by now, but all the free movement, work, etc comes by default in all EU states. The Schengen stuff is about erasing border crossings entirely, letting you simply drive through where once passports were checked. Airports also have a dedicated free corridor where you can walk right through (traveling from one Schengen country to another) without interruption. Not all EU member states are a part of the Schengen agreement, but the majority of them are. Unfortunately, during heavily politically motivated bouts of migrant panic, the formerly erased borders sometimes get closed once more, for some arbitrary temporary duration. Up to the given country's leadership. In any case, even if border crossings are temporarily reactivated, or if an EU country is yet to join the Schengen agreement, you are still free to enter carrying only your EU state ID card, no passport necessary.
