Maybe the demon king wanted all elves to be killed (genocide) because he heard a prophecy about his death, killed by an elf. And the coldest line in this show so far: "Aura, KYS"

In the stills they show after her flashback of meeting Himmel, you can see that he was the one that beat Aura in their first encounter with her. It looks like she used the scales on him but he’s HIM so he resisted it and cut her. Aura gets so spooked by Himmel that she doesn’t pop back-up until immediately after he’s dead. It isn’t a coincidence either, since she literally mentions to Frieren that Himmel had died.

This small arch from episode 8 to 10 is unbelievable wild. The animation is on fire, story development is amazing. I love the emo of the other arch in this show so much, but the last three hype episodes are truly enjoyable to rewatch.

No but it is a good guess. As far as I'm aware (reading the source material but I am not up to date) they never mentioned something like that but it could be, who knows. I think is something more simple: the Demon King's fear is related to how long Elves live and that they use magic (humans can have more skills but regarding raw power they will never catch up with long-lived races). So if a long-lived and well trained elf were to appear, then there is a risk that they would be powerful enough to kill him.

Getting to see more of Flamme, learning how magic and demons work in this world, the fight with Aura. This episode really solidified my love for this series, and it keeps getting better. The music too! Omg the music hits good. Okay bye Imma bout to write an essay lol

nah this Frieren mini arc was on a roll and possibly elevated the series popularity even more but this episode .... was so generational that day/week with the Low Tier God memes😭 even the fanarts and parodies until today

The double layered storyline of Frieren is one of my favorite of the series, and it was greatly implied in this episode! When Flamme asked Frieren if she still loved magic, it's a great call back before ep 1 ended where Frieren asked baby Fern if she loves magic. The flowers .... (cries), pulled in my heartstrings because it's also a callback how this made the heroes party happy in ep 2 (flower crown scene), and now we know it's also to honor Flamme. The dual meet ups, which featured hunches of strong mages with both Frieren and Himmel saying "just a feeling", which triggered her to join them. And the build up around this episode to conclude Aura's arc was just phenomenal, the music etc .... The slow cutting of the hair and the head roll POV was just teww much lmao

I adore this episode. Ahhhh the way Himmel said the same thing that Frieren said to Flamme 😭 "Just a feeling" THEY WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHERRRRR Himmel if only you were an elf too.

Just noticed that Flamme’s spell didn’t make an explosion sound, I watch every new episode I’ve read the manga and the beauty of rewatching and these details that rewatching makes you appreciate so much and realize this will be remembered forever for the same reason you can watch this anime again over and over and that’ll only make you nostalgic rewatching Himmel the hero and it’s party. Storytelling on another level
