During the whole dialogue between the three of them I was wondering where they would end the episode. I thought it was impossible to set a good ending of the episode without going way over the timeframe. I just wanted their talk to continue.

Love, love, LOVE this episode. Great drama, voice acting, hype, animation. That part where Thorfinn gets angry at Drott and calls him "middle-part," you can hear the young angry Thorfinn again, but this time its coming from basically, an entirely different person. G-R-O-W-T-H. And I love that you brought up the looks in their eyes, coz to me there are two main times where its really talked about. In S1 when Thorkell mentions it about Thors and a few eps ago when Leif mentions it about Thorfinn and how Thorfinn is being moved by something bigger now. I believe that they both are being moved by the same thing, but like you said just different methods. And that look in Canutes eyes, is what made Thorkell join him in the first place, because he saw it in Thors as well and wanted to see if Canute could lead him to being a true warrior. Canute and Thorfinn are two sides of the same coin and a lot of that is being shown here.

Yep that shift in atmosphere from the beginning of the bet to the end was amazing. The way all those experienced warriors who probably thought they’ve seen it all went from cracking jokes and cheering to complete silence and reverence. Also Canute’s wave bit was really interesting because of the way things were set up for him this season. It was looking like he had gone mad and turned into everything Askeladd hated. Just some warmongering maniac who’s power went straight to his head. Which isn’t the case he is still striving for the same goal except he’s taking a brutal path to achieve it. It’s like both him and Thorfinn switched places too. Canute used to be seen as the naive softy and thorfinn the harsh brute yet now it’s the other way around. Hell they even swapped hair styles lmao Canute is a very interesting character you can see he’s even taken after Askeladd with the way he operates.
