Thanks for reacting to this show! This season of vinland saga imo, is the best season of anime ever made.

This has to win anime of year no matter how good JJK and AOT are. This shows amazing story telling since there wasn't a lot of action/fighting this season. Hope you can react to Classroom of the Elite since season 3 is coming out next week.

Matt Rhinehart

I second classroom of the elite next

Tokyo Revengers just ended its season I highly recommend picking it back up after VS

guys, Alana is about to finish anime of the year, it’s only fait that she will watch Frieren next, the closest contender to anime of the year besides Vinland Saga

"In exchange for your farm, your son became a man." I really like Olmar in this episode, like its crazy that THIS guy out of all the characters in the show became one of the ones that would identify with current Thorfinn's beliefs the most.

To Your Eternity next please Alana!!

Quick reminder that last time Thorfinn saw Canute he tried to kill him. And Canute knows that except for Askeladd and Thorkell Thorfinn can beat pretty much everyone. So it's not unreasonable for him to avoid any contact. The Thorfinn Canute knew was like a rabid dog. Who can assure him that this dog won't bite for Ketil and his farm?

I know this season is peak but the next three episodes are next level peak.. I really hope you could watch double with ep 22 and 23 cause they sync so good together. Thank you Alana for these amazing reactions!

Man the parallels between Canute's corpse-filled path and Griffith from Berserks. Alana if you haven't read Berserk and are enjoying this season of Vinland, i highly recommend reading Berserk

God damn the end of this season is so great. I know you finished the series from your twitter post so i am also very curious what we shall be watching next! Cant wait!

Matt Brock

First season maybe after that not so much. Plus she has already watched two seasons of Tokyo Revengers so far. Also To Your Eternity is a disaster for YouTube Copyright. I think the majority of Creators had to move it to private viewing

If the crazy kid who was screaming all the time who probably hated me and tried to kill me the last time I saw him was showing up to try to meet, I'd probably send him away too. I don't think that makes Canute a coward really. He doesn't know what Thorfinn's like now, and he gains nothing from taking that risk.

Eddie P.

Devils advocate: Canute at this point of the plot, may only remember the thorfin full of hatred, anger and irrational. after askelad’s dead he might think “I might be his new target”.

Poragami

First time here, is there no full episode? do i have to watch along with a timer? lol

I'm so glad you're enjoying this anime so much! I think some people get wrapped up in the action/spectacle of this show in S1, and really come to dislike the show in S2. For me though, S2 made this show single handedly the most beautiful piece of media I've ever seen. It's high praise, but I think the message of this anime transcends the anime itself. I think it's such an important story to tell, and I firmly believe that everyone should watch it. Can't wait to see your reactions to the final few episodes! Thank you for such genuine and organic reactions :)

almost to the end of season 2! while the manga is indeed excellent [i highly recommend reading it], i completely understand wanting to stick with the anime because the direction has been so damn good... with any luck we'll have many more stellar seasons to come~

who would've thought that Olmar would go through one of the best character arcs of the season? xd i think that the interaction with Thorgil and Olmar was amazing and one of the best scenes of an already awesome season filled with great scenes. Thorgil was trying to make Olmar want to fight, to show "courage" (the name of the ep). his first strategy was to basically call him a coward and to remind him that he caused this (which is partly true), to appeal to his Nordic man pride... something that this series tries to say it's stupid to have, like this macho might-makes-right honor-above-life archetype of a "cool viking", we see this in Thorkell played mostly for fun (Thorkell - the most viking character of the show - is repeateadly called "a child" (i love him anyways tho lol)) and in Thorgil (he's like an "evil Thorkell" xd), who is shown as a cruel man that thrives in war and death, the bigger the enemy the better. then, when Thorgil saw that blaming Olmar didn't do anything he was more empathetic, he basically called him a coward again, but in a "i'm your brother i love you" kind of way, he says "honor is more important than your life" 'cause that's the viking man way - if you're humiliated you should take back your honor with death (yours or your enemy's), that's what happened in Jelling and what created all this mess - , and that's exactly the opposite path that Thorfinn is taking (he was like that before, all about pride and "tatakae" like a certain someone in other anime xd he was behaving like a child with his ego hurt) and the path Sverkel noticed that Olmar also wanted to take: the path of owning your mistakes, not be driven by your ego, but by thinking in the bigger picture (the safety of everyone left in the farm). i think the author is not saying that you should passively take humiliation or injustice, no, but own your mistakes no matter how hurt your ego is, that's courage, not killing the first thing that moves against you. that's why i love the contrast between Ketil and Olmar: both got their world views shattered and their egos hurt post-Jelling, Ketil's pride was his wealth and power (his farm, the legend of Iron Fist Ketil and Arnheid), Olmar's pride was his warrior's pride. but it was Olmar who became "a man", Ketil just remained a coward. and obviously Olmar's courage is beautifully paralleled with Thorfinn's. i love this manga. i can't believe i'm proud of someone like Olmar lmao sorry for the long text xd, i don't expect someone to read it, i just wanted to put my thoughts out.
