I love how every supporting character is written for Thorfinn in some way, to help him and let him grow as a person. Einar is teaching him to be "normal" and that he can change, Pater tells them that not everyone has it out for them. You can see at the start of the episode when that dude proposed to ravenge the farm, that not all of his buddies were 100% in on it.
