We all knew that Alana would be on the Snake hype train

It's probable that Thorfinn doesn't actually remember everything from before he was 6 years old. There 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 good things that happened, which makes it all the more sad to hear that he doesn't believe that, or at least everything good that has happened had been washed away by all of the grief and the eventual loss of himself. I just want the best for our boy, Thorfinn :'(

Sacha

Yukimura the mangaka had this to say about Thorfinn’s speech at the end. “Not a single good thing has happened in my entire life” it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that I wrote the boyhood war story to get you to say this line. Sorry Thorfinn. Everyone is constantly growing or changing. I think that’s a good thing. You may be able to do tomorrow what you can’t do today. I think there is hope for tomorrow because there is growth and change. It’s hard to live today if you don’t have hope for tomorrow. So do your best.” Yukimura has gone on record many times that the prologue was created so he could get Thorfinn to this point. The original plan was to start here but he decided that Thorfinn needed many lessons before hand and so the prologue arc was created. This man’s mind!

Nothing good has ever happened to me my entire life 🥺 man

JD

PTSD dreams. He doesn't remember because his brain is actively blocking out painful memories to protect himself.

My king snake has arrived

Thank you for this one Alana! Amazing show that gets better each episode and I'm so glad you are already invested in S2. So worth it. So sad to see our boy in rock bottom.. Love Thorfinn and Einars friendship that we already see

M Khan

okkk time for Alana to run it back with Snake just like she did for Askeladd 🤣

James

We're all anxiously waiting for you to get to episode 9

Yukimura consider himself "talentless", but I think he's gifted in just going the extra mile for the story. This moment would not hit as hard if we had not seen it for ourselves. And as a mangaka he's also always sympathizing with all his characters, even the ones that make him afraid of them.

Lane Boyd

episode 9, I don’t wanna overhype it but it’s my favorite episode of any show I’ve ever seen. Why does it hit SO HARD

Edgar

or ep4, or ep 8 , or ep 13. Basically whole season

Mojira

fact, the whole season have so many great character moments.

James

Episode 9 will be the first episode in this season where the impact will be felt to the core. Also, it was this episode that changed my mind on season 2 as a whole where I was getting ready to give up on the season due to the slow pacing.

Lalo

the pacing is great. also episode 8 was great too so i dont see how people say episode 9 is the only good episode in the first half

James

I'm not saying episode 9 is the only great episode in this season, and I've watched dozens of reactions in the last couple of months, and this episode is the ***first*** episode in this season where people felt some of kind of emotional impact. I was not initially impressed with some the prior episodes because there seemed to be a lack of progression with messaging or themes in the story other than your typical storyline plots. When it came to episode 9, I was impressed by the writing, and this is coming from someone who studied a little bit of literature in college. After watching every episode after 9, I understood why the slow pacing was needed in the beginning. Things that make Vinland Saga stand out from all the other anime are it's powerful moments where the impact can be felt, and the messaging that Yukimura is trying to convey through this story which is a message on violence (he's anti-violence). I don't really care for action, and I mostly look to see if I can connect with the characters and learn something from the story.

I really think we should steer clear of making comments about hyping up later episodes. Let her reaction to it be organic and unexpecting. It's much more satisfying that way.
