Another mostly dialog centric episode with a little of action and a lot of hype to the end....and a kickass soundtrack of course. Shin and Frederica dialogs are awesome as always. Kudos to the VA's. Ernst is a enigmatic character. His ideals are strong and sometimes it's scary when he mean to. Greteh best girl....for this episode at least.

Ernst is a real one for sure. Also I'm pretty sure there is a subtitle error. Grethe actually says it's 100km in 9 minutes, not 1000

This is the beginning of the end... As you can tell, the setup is extreme! God I love all the episodes from here and forward. Can't wait till next episode!

Okay, so Ernst may be my favourite character in Eighty-Six. When he said humanity would be better off dead if they can't survive except by killing children because they're strange, he meant it. Ernst is an absolute idealist to the nth extreme, the complete opposite of the moral capitulation of the Republic exhibited in General Karlstahl.

I like Ernst in the show, but his attitude characterized by the "better off dead" is actually not dissimilar to the attitude of many a dictator we have seen in history. It's essentially putting yourself on a pedestal and appointing yourself to be the supreme and inerrant judge. I tend to believe that Ernst is a good guy with a sufficient inner moral braking system, but I also view his philosophy as being only *this* far from tipping him over to becoming a monster.

That WAS a subtitle error. She said "100km and change."
