The reason why this episode feels like an ending is because this is where the first light novel ended, and it was originally a one shot submitted for like a writing competition (if I’m recalling correctly) but the series obviously got popular and the author kept going

Charles Baldwin

I love the way Lena is shot as a villain when she goes to confront her friend. She's had her all right then I'll go to he'll moment, and she's at your door to bring you down with her.

Symbolism Symbolism Symbolism. This show and director is masterfull at this. Show don't tell. One of my favorites scenes of this show is when Lena go to comfront Annette. It's the first time we see "bad girl" Lena...HA HA. She manipulating Annette is awesome. Love the part (symbolism again) of her step back of the house porche to the rain and pulling out Annette of the "protection of her denial" and leave her out in the open/rain. It gave me chills. And, of course, Sawano doing Sawano things. The soundtrack is marvelous.

2023-08-11 20:35:15 Unluckily the Shepperds work on two layers, the first layer is the Legion Machine and their directives, the second would be their personalities, while there's some little moments where the personality can take over, mostly they will still follow their prime directives and as such, if their sensors pick up the human signal, they will kill it, there's also limitations to communications through Shin's ability. This isn't explained properly but Shin not only hears their voices but also he can feels a certain kind of pain from them, he explains that it's like their soul is hurting for being attached to this plane by force which is why he feels so obliged to put those souls to rest. Lena shared the vision from one of Raiden's eyes, in that moment what he saw was Lena's reflection through her monitor. She closed her eye so that it wouldn't distract Raiden so that alliviated the burden of sharing the vision. Sharing other senses other than sound puts so much stress in the brain that she ran the risk of burning her eye nerves, which could lead to blindness but because it was a small moment she didn't had any issue.

I love this episode, it is my favorite or second favorite one. I think the scene with Lena trying to run after them in the city hits me particularly hard given how I in the past have repeatedly had to leave or been abandoned by people I was very attached to, traumatizing me and giving me attachment and abandonment issues. I cry like a child every time I hear her wail of despair once she realizes they are gone, I feel her so hard. Lena is so tough, yet so sensitive, she is just the most lovable person. So well crafted. The other characters are also lovable, but Lena has a special place in my heart. Add to that Shin's final goodbye to his brother and Lena's manipulation of Annette and this episode leaves me trembling...
