Aqua and Ruby are so interesting, because of the different ages and lives they were leading before being reincarnated you can see major differences in how they act. Ruby was only 12 when she died and never really lived much of a life, so she has completely embraced her new self. Aqua was a grown man that had accomplishments and lived a relatively full life. He still holds onto that old-self a lot more than Ruby. He doesn’t so much care about the new life, and instead holds onto the adoration and Idolization of Ai as a star caused by Sarina. Sarina’s death really affected him in his previous life, and that attachment shifted to Ai and then they both die so young. It really makes sense why he is so protective of Ruby, even if he doesn’t know who she is. It is the only real connection he has to his previous self.

I'm in Japan right now, and the irony is that Amazon Prime Japan has so far put out only two episodes (Tokyo MX and AT-X have aired Ep. 3 but I don't have access to them), so I am behind you even though I'm right here, in the anime capital of the world!　(Edited): Here it comes Ep. 3 on Amazon Prime (JPN).
