I started hearing about this show months ago, and since it was a story by Kaguya-sama's author I was immediately invested. I went into this expect- ing a comedy, and I've been bothered all day since watching this. I definitely want to watch more, but man was I blindsided by the story XD

Aka Akasaka is something else, he came up with one of the best (if not the best) romcoms out there, then decides to retire as a mangaka and now focusing in this. The manga is amazing and they did incredible with the first episode adaptation.

Austin D

well he still is a mangaka. A mangaka is an author and/OR illustrator of manga.

First episode already making me feel weird. I dont know if i wanna cry, hate everything. I actually dont know wtf happened.

I was looking forward to everyone's reactions as soon as I learned it was a long premiere and figured it would cover up through THAT scene lol. Not sure about volumes but chapter 115 of the manga just released today. This episode adapted the first 10 chapters

would also recommend watching (in your own time off-screen, maybe) the official music video for the theme song Idol by Yoasobi, alongside with Eng translations, which is about Ai's POV

What an opening to an anime. I was so locked in.

As a manga reader (NO SPOILER), I can say that oshi no ko is one of the best works I've ever read, Aka Akasaka managed (in my opinion) to take all the best he did in Kaguya-Sama and transfer it to this work (development, relationships of characters and depth of each individual), and made something denser with more weight, which is impossible not to be captivated by the plot. This show will certainly be one of the best, the adaptation is WONDERFUL, I will continue to follow (and react with Alana kkkk) to this work without a doubt. Ps.: the manga is still coming out and it's on chapter 105 and it only gets better : )

I only read a couple chapters a few months ago and then held off for the anime but god damn i did not expect things to go this way, this is so so good i need more

Antonius K

Well this was a lot sadder than I was expecting it to be

Greetings from Japan. Oshi No Ko, a steaming fresh anime although the manga is now up to Vol. 11, is an interesting fusion of fantasy and social critiques. The reincarnation theme thang is huge these days in the manga, light novel and anime genre, so I initially said to myself, Ah gosh, another one of those! Well, no. This one is definitely not the same ole'.

Dublis91

I loved this episode as much as the next guy but good lord it has 9,35 rating after FIRST EPISODE?! Lets calm down a bit it can go crashing down from here ^^'

The Japanese Idol industry is incredibly cruel and toxic. In the west people have more or less come to a realization that everyone has lives, but in Japan idols are held to an unbelievably high and incredibly cruel set of standards and rules.

Ecodude

Yes, the things they show us in the series about the Industry are pretty much real and the parasocial aspects of the industry are deeply engrained in the Idol culture of countries like Japan or Korea (tbf not saying that those things doesn't exist in the west), also is relative common to find people with that kind of behavior to the point that it becames dangerous for the artists.

Oh man hearing you say "Kaguya is one of my favorite shows" I already knew this was gonna blindside you. Masterpiece

I. Did. Not. Expect. This. I really wanna read the manga now
